Bought a plain Golf Mk7.5 - non-GTi, pre-reg - in mid-Jan following a break-in in which my 440i was the target (now sold).

No clean car pics as I haven't washed the Golf yet and don't plan to anytime soon

Having driven/owned and obsessively cared for premium German cars for the past thirty plus years, it is totally liberating having a car you don't give a t*ss about - honestly

Agree mate. Why I'm not paying to cost my current car or anything like that. It might even get put through the odd car wash or 2 in winter!

It gets a bit tedious aiming for glossy perfecting in rainy U.K.

Passably clean will do nicely.

Saying that, would just love to get out for a drive right now!

Just go for one, bog roll on the passenger seat and it’s as good as blue lights and a siren.

It's not just the washing & polishing either, Chris.
I don't care about where I park it, about stone chips, about interior mess, about people slamming the doors, about dirty shoes etc etc
It's as cheap as chips to fuel, tax and insure - and another bonus is the fact being the GT version, it's not as completely cr*p to drive as I thought it would be.

Totally agree Chris, if you PX when it is time to change the dealer couldn't care less. WBAC price whether it is gleaming with 100's of pounds worth of products or covered in caked on cow shit!!

There seems to be a massive car detailing scene nowadays which is great if you enjoy it but I cant think of anything I would like to do less.

For me cars are about driving enjoyment not how much shine I can get on it, I suppose it would be a sad old world if we were all the same though.

I say thank goodness for my brilliant Polish and Romanian lads that do my cars every few months

The Mk 7.5 is a great car in any guise and the GT is not a poor relation. I think its easy to get blase about the cars we have and always want the next big thing, but sometimes a rebasing against something good but sensible is needed...

Can't be bothered to wash my car. Don't see the point in just watching it gradually getting dirtier again sat on the drive not turning a wheel.

Focussing more on garden and house maintenance.

Always think the X3s look good in Silver yet you rarely see them in that colour!

I was so bored I cleaned all the melted rubber, tar and brake dust off the track car. I've even bought some Honda Satin Silver and clear coat rattle can paint to have a go at trying to patch up some of the dodgy paint work, for a laugh! The front bumper can only be improved after a few glances with tyre walls/hay bales/other cars(previous owner).

Might even wax it

Mine's still filthy and got the winter wheels on, planning to change that this weekend as the weather forecast looks incredible!

Hopefully will be looking like this again:

When you say "wheels" do you mean winter tyres?

Agree with this. The fact that you rarely see them in silver only adds to the appeal too.

Didn't wash my car, on the grounds that both Tesco and IMO/ARC car washes are closed
