4.37 - heading for 40k deaths. 10.37 - over 41.5k deaths.

But lets focus on the economic costs....
Quite sobering. If we take the view that those deaths relate quite strongly to diagnosed cases two weeks ago, there were 198k cases on 17th March. And around 850k cases as of yesterday.

I think I've just seen a daily mail link posted as a counter to an overhyped fear. I'm off to spec savers (when they reopen).

Those new NPCC guidelines are actually everywhere today. Common sense prevails ..

When the Daily Mail becomes the voice of reason, we must be in real trouble!

In this instance though, they are just reporting the same news as everyone else

Maybe that will be the New World Order. I wonder what this is doing to house prices

Market moving quite rapidly, I wouldn't necessarily expect the offerings to settle for quite a while. But great deals may pop up briefly.

I'm paying 0.69% over base so not sure I will beat that for a while...

went for a tracker and not a fix in case multi generational living went badly, guess it was a good call as it turns out.... . Only 12 months to go before I need to look for something else, which will be more of a challenge if values fall as dont want LTV to be too high!

I’m on 1.79% fixed for 5 years, seemed like a good idea and probably still was, it’s the first time in 16 years I hadn’t gone tracker, nobody could’ve seen this though.

I’ve still got 2.5 years to go, I’m hoping it’ll have settled a bit by then...

24 hours later - 46.5k deaths. Not sure we can ignore that for the economics...

Add that several nations are now stating the recorded deaths are only for those who die in hospital. Home and care home deaths are not included.

Interesting indeed, I've also been reading those articles on the new NPCC guidelines.

I've resisted the temptation so far to just 'go for a drive' and have only been going out when we've needed shopping (the long way round so the car can stretch it's legs a bit).

The other weekend, the family and I took a 15 minute drive to a nature reserve which I picked as I knew it would be empty and it was.

I think if you are driving say 10-20 minutes from your house to do some exercise in a quiet place out in the countryside/park etc. then I don't see it as an issue.

Of course, more cars on the road = more changes of accidents and our NHS is already overloaded etc. so there has to be some balance.

I think driving miles/hours away from your home e.g. to the lake district or peaks or seaside (not if you live there of course) is the issue here.

At the end of day, social distancing is key here...

All that being said, since our last trip to said nature reserve and the roadblocks popping up everywhere etc. I've only been driving to the shops...

I hope this thread doesn't become like the one on Pistonheads - that is quite comical!
