Is there any value of a stock exhaust system removed from a B58 engine?

Hello, I installed MPPSK last week, when I picked up the car, I was wondering what the dealer would do to my old exhaust system, it's from a B58 engine with low milage. If there's some value of it and if someone would buy a used exhaust, I'd like to ask the dealer to return the old parts to me. Otherwise it's better for the dealer to dispose of it.

Yes there is value and yes every now and then I see someone asking for a stock exhaust in the classifieds. It's not theirs to keep.

exhaust system probably not - the muffler yes. A 335/340 muffler is a great mod for 328 owners with msport. The 328 MSport owner simply needs to swap their diffuser to a 335/340 style (one pipe on each side) and install the muffler - all the muffler mounting points (hangers) between a 328 and a 340 are the same

The reality is if someone got rear ended, insurance would pay for new OEM exhaust. If I was doing a mod, I wouldn't be buying an OEM muffler as "an upgrade". I'd buy aftermarket, so no, really no value (says the guy with the old can from his 340 in the garage because he hasn't gotten to throwing it out).

LOL I have a bin with all my stock parts in it. Suspension, bits of trim, stock airbox, stock fuel pump, downpipe, lots more. You name it, it's in there. I think I had a reason initially to keep all that stuff but now I keep doing it because that's just something I do, I guess...

If it's been a week it is gone, should have asked for it before the install or when picking it up. You probably wont find anyone to sell it to though, but it's nice to keep stock parts around if you ever sell the car and want to sell your mods separately.

A stock cat back system is like, $10 in metal scrap.
Typically they have to cut the original system to get it out.

You're not really missing anything.

Thanks guys, I also did some research on the classifield, it's not popular. I'm not sure what's inside the muffler so better let dealer dispose of it.

Ok, I have more than just the exhaust. There is a DP, rear fascia....

Just seems like a waste to throw out perfectly good parts, but I know I'm never using them again.

I would have saved it to revert to stock when you sell the car. You can usually recoupe more of your money if you revert to stock and sell your add ons to someone because it's really hard to sell a car with mods (OEM or aftermarket) and expect to get anything more than a stock car.

Also if someone who doesn't have a garage or a lot of property does an exhaust and throws their stock one out and latter realizes they aren't getting what they want for their car and decides to revert to stock they may want to buy your stock one off of you so they can revert and sell their aftermarket one.
