All you need is one cut.

Shown below is the bolt-on 3D printed cutting template we designed to enable the factory bumper to perfectly accommodate the 80mm tips of the AWE Tuning F3X 328i/428i Quad Outlet Touring Edition Exhaust.

Ever consider a cutting template for the 320i? Would be interested in a single side dual exhaust 328i AWE exhaust if I could cut the 320i bumper using a template.

Back when we developed for the F3Xs, yes, but decided not to. A dual outlet single tip configuration would have even be awesome. If one really wanted, I'm sure there'd be a way to maneuver the p-side quad cutting template with something to secure it in place while inverted in order to mark the cutting line... or it could be free handed.

Cutting with a template scares me, freehand terrifies me. Paying almost $500 extra for an AWE 320i single exhaust when the 328i is available and better looking is a hard sale. Wish you guys would reconsider.

I was speaking hypothetically, of course -- "what ifs."

Maybe I'll push to get a 320 in and scan it.

About the system

The AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust

The AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust is an axle back system that leverages AWE Tuning’s proprietary sound cancellation solution, 180 Technology™, to produce the perfect exhaust note, drone free. If you’re unfamiliar with 180 Technology™, learn more through this brief 180 Technology™ video.

The AWE Tuning Performance Mid Pipe

The AWE Tuning Performance Mid Pipe is a key component in obtaining the perfect signature aggressive yet sophisticated note from the exhaust. This resonated piece removes the factory secondary cat (on N26 Motors) and replaces it with straight through 3” T304 stainless steel tubing.

Sound Perfection: AWE Tuning 180 Technology™

Perfect tone comes compliments of AWE Tuning 180 Technology™.

As exhaust gases exit the 328i/428i engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technology™ equipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers. The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves rejoin the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies. More on AWE Tuning 180 Technology in the tab above.

Thanks for reading!
What do I gain with adding the mid pipe to the system? I'd be interested in hearing the difference with and without the mid pipe. Thanks!

The mid pipe omits the unmonitored secondary catalyst and comes as a true 3" mid sections. It gives the 328/428 a bit more aggression and straight-through performance compared to the axleback when ran by itself -- most run the full configuration. Can't find much video of drivers running the axleback alone, aside from this (skip to 1:05, then 18:07):
.

Full system:

When applying the full configuration, there's no cutting of the stock system. Otherwise, cutting at the factory-placed "dimple" is required when putting on an axleback (FWIW). Hope this helps.

Happy to announce that with the arrival of 2017, AWE F3X Performance Mid Pipes and Touring Edition Exhausts prices have been reduced!

Find a dealer right this way.

Get yours through an AWE Dealer or direct.

Anyone in the Denver/Ft Collins area have this exhaust on their f3x? I'm looking at upgrading the stock exhaust to the Touring Edition with mid pipe, but would like to hear it first. Sounds incredible in videos but worried it might be too loud for me.

Is there any welding involved on this install or is it all clamps?
