M240i Exhaust on a 330i?

I found an M240i axleback exhaust near me for $190 and was tempted to pick it up for my 330i. I wanted to know if anyone has done this or if the muffler inlet is the same diameter as the F30 B48 (3in).

I wonder if there would be issues with things like backpressure since the M240 exhaust was designed for an I6 and not the I4 in your car. it also might not sound right since it was tuned for a completely different engine.

I have the same thoughts as Desertnate. Manufacturers spend a lot of time tuning the exhaust for a particular sound (Ferrari has a patent around theirs!).

The I6 vs I4 would sound totally different, and potentially bad.

The only reason you'd do an axle back is the sound. You're not going to see any real gains from the exercise.

This has been done before, lots of guys with 328 went with the 335 exhaust.

It's been done many times on this forums. Just don't debadge your car and make your car seem like a 335 or 340 when it's not.

Hi,

Did you end up doing this mod? If so, what was the result?

Agreed! Every one of my vehicles get the Brazilian wax treatment as soon as they pull into the garage for the first time.

Wait... we are talking about car badge here.

I think you should do it AND add a 340 badge.

It's your car. You can do anything you want to it. Doesn't matter what you do, some will love it, some will hate it.
