Covid-19 and interior disinfecting
Any suggestions for high level disinfectants on the interior? Steering wheel, seats, console and dash, without compromising the interior material?

High level disinfectants.... just how diseased are you????, it dies off in 24 hours on plastics and 3 days on metal surfaces, otherwise, just clean as per normal and relax.

Soap breaks apart the virus, so anything with soap in it should be enough. BMW says a mild soap solution for much of the interior cleaning anyway, so that should be fine.
I wouldn't use bleach, and I'd worry the disinfectant sprays' solvents might ruin some plastics' finishes... Leather? I don't know--glad I have vinyl.

I read an article somewhere (jalopnik?) that said factory workers use isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean surfaces during vehicle assembly. I haven't tried it.

If the only person driving is yourself don't worry about it. The only way any virus was deposited was by you, and that means you're already exposed. I saw a guy driving down the street yesterday, alone in the car, wearing a mask. I don't know who he thought he was going to catch something from.

In a nutshell, 70% isopropyl alcohol is safe for virtually all car surfaces. Use it sparingly on coated leather (Dakota, Veransca) and avoid it altogether for semi-aniline leathers like Merino or Nappa. Soap and water are safer for coated leather. A good leather cleaner and conditioner are probably best though I don't know how effective they would be against viruses. Never use bleach or peroxide. |

You'll also notice it was reported by the CDC. So the data is very credible. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ns-for-17-days |

Like I said though, the last information I stated was the official info, if they want to change that, then so be it. |
