I'd much rather have some random dude at a dealership roll his eyes at me than screw up my car's paint. Besides, if we're being honest, you're probably getting eye rolls anyway just for asking them not to wash it. The vast majority of people think the way we obsess over this stuff is ridiculous. But we have a name for these people: wrong.

It is really bad when I take Uber to the airport as 75% of their drivers do not speak any English and I have to use Google Translate to ask questions or give an instruction.

UPDATE I AM OP.

Went to detailer and they gave me a quote.

Brought it to BMW and the service manager and director agreed to cover it no questions. I am happy with the resolution. Still annoying but I am happy they stand by their customers when they do something wrong.

Update i am op

Hello all. I AM OP

Id like to update everyone on my last post about the dealership putting my car through their auto brush wash and messing up my new ceramic.

Today I had time to properly wash my car and noticed it was just the drivers side that was all scratched up (pic in old post) mostly the door and front fender. I noticed a deep scratch along the fender and door . The rest of the car is OK. A few TINY marks but essentially nothing.

My guess they tried to buff it out the deep scratch... or the brushes on that side were just way more abrasive. Not sure tbh

I took it to the xpel shop that did the paint correction and ceramic. They quoted me $500 for a re-polish and ceramic for the side. They also think one of the my two assumptions is what happened.

I then went to the dealership and spoke with the service manager and director and they looked at my car. They offered their people to fix it. I said id prefer my shop do it. They agreed without any arguing and said they can be billed directly or cut me a check.

Overall I am very pleased with the outcome. I wasnt not rude at any point and neither were they. People make mistakes. Its nice when they stand by their work.

I will be hanging "NO WASH" signs all over my car in the future lol

TLR

Dealership took car though wash when told not to and messed up ceramic.

Dealership agreed to pay for repair at shop I had it done without any push back.

It was a shame that you had to go through this mess!

I am happy that they resolved this error on their part to your satisfaction.

I live in your area, which dealer did this happen at?

The sign comes like that. Different language on each side. Its not 2 signs if that was what you were thinking...Personally I'll take an eye roll vs the carwash headache above.

That is awesome! Glad you got it resolved at the lowest level. Sounds like a good BMW dealership to be working with when you need your car serviced.

So glad this worked out to your satisfaction. That's how you win repeat customers – when you screw up, own it and do the right thing and fix it. I'd be willing to be that, despite the mistake, your feelings towards the dealer are better now than they were. Everyone makes mistakes, but at least now you know that they'll own up to them and fix them.

Exactly this, let them roll their eyes as much as they want, your property your right to put such a sign on a car, stating not to wash it.
In 2-3-4 languages, why not, that is not discriminating on any level

Glad it worked out man! Says something about that place that they didn't give you any static. A place that takes accountability when they mess up is a keeper in my book. Now if they F up 2x, firebomb that place! Hahaha

There is nothing offensive about using this type of sign. Most especially here in south Florida where approximately 70% of Miami-Dade county is Hispanic and approximately 30% of Broward county is Hispanic.

I ordered the sign. I plan to leave it in my glove box and use it on services. I plan to ceramic coat the car, and I will be hand washing it weekly. I don't want to take any chances. I'm in Miami, and the Spanish side will be hung facing the driver. I speak fluent Spanish and I know my city. There isn't anything offensive about it.
