Voice Command

Hi folks,

So I have what I believe to be a voice command button on the steering wheel but pressing it does absolutely nothing, am I doing something wrong? or is it a case of the m sport steering wheels come with it as standard and further options make this function available? I dont have sat nav but do have standard bluetooth. Vin checker shows this:

Unfortunately it won't do anything I don't think. Enhanced BT gives you voice control for phoning functions and pro-nav gives the extended voice control. You do have to press and hold the button for a couple of secs though so you could try that.

You just press it once to activate voice command when you have EBT and Pro nav.

Holding the button activates voice on the device (like SIRI on iphone)

but again - you need EBT and pro Nav for full functionality

Yes you press it just once but I find a brief press does nothing; you have to hold it a brief period for the tone and "Say a command" text on the dashboard.

Really? Just stab it once on mine - no hold.

For the OP - you need option 644A for the voice activation in yours for it to work - so it looks like you have the button but no 644A - sorry.

General rule of thumb is do you have the cradle in the center arm rest? No = No voice

Didn't know this, this is Gold Dust. So hold it down and use Siri via EBT as you would normally, not just calling people but setting up reminders and meeting alike whoop whoop!

Thanks for all the responses guys - long hold / short hold did nothing so I guess its just there for 'show', surprising they didn't pop some sort of functionality if the buttons there. No bother happy enough to ignore it but worth checking with the knowledgeable forum

I've got pro nav but not extended bluetooth. No cradle for my phone but voice commands do work!!

You don't even need to press a button anymore mate, if you enable 'hey Siri' in your phone, then all you have to do is say 'hey Siri'

That's because you all have pro nav (or bus nav built after March 2014) which all have voice control!

The OP has no nav which does not have voice control.

Siri and voice control work fine for me. But Siri's limited whilst the car is moving or whilst it's connected via BT to the car as asking a google type of question returns nothing....

Annoying!

It does it when on Bluetooth, when not on Bluetooth, when in the car or in the house or in the middle of a desert! Maybe it depends which iphone you have? I've got a 6s.
