What maintenance services should be done by BMW rathet than an Indy shop?

Just curious which services should definitely be done by BMW rather than an indy shop?

Brake fluid? Transmission fluid? Differential fluid? Etc

Thanks

Only those that are pre-paid or under warranty.

I think you'd get a better alignment at a BMW franchised workshop than most places.

BMW alignment is a bit tricky, but a shop that specializes in German cars wouldn't have a problem. Most of those shops employ former BMW techs who moved on for better wages.

Whichever is cheaper. Dealers are not always more expensive.

Garage List
If I take my car to my local BMW shop the guys who work on my car have factory training, decades of experience and use the same German parts for a reasonable shop rate. And I speak directly to them. I’ve known them for years to be experienced and honest..

If I took my car to the local BMW dealer my car gets assigned randomly to the next tech available who may or may not be experienced in the matter at hand. I can’t talk directly to the guy working on my car. The labor rate is higher, the book hours are inflated and the parts prices are inflated.

If I take my car to a dealer I’m guaranteed to pay a lot more for work that could potentially be less capable.
