Just get a power bleeder and change every 30k, why test the fluid for moisture, that's not the only factor. There's dirt/other contaminants, you're also changing the additive package. You can do it quicker than an oil change, like I said the longest part is taking your wheels off/on.

You don't even need a power bleeder, just a bit of 1/4" silicone hose and an empty bottle.

Dot 4 LV fluid, turkey baster, and a hose/bottle apparatus.

Suck the old crap out, fill your bottle with the old fluid, top off the master cylinder with new fluid, go around the car and bleed the fluid.

So long as your hose is submerged in fluid, you won't draw any air into the system.

I understand that. I've used every method there is.

My point with the power bleeder is that it's easy enough to not defer maintenance because there's not enough water content in the fluid.

Brake fluid isn't oil, it doesn't have an additive package that degrades over time. I did my first brake fluid flush circa 1972, so this ain't my first rodeo. Also, I'm from New England, where we firmly believe that if it ain't broken don't fix it. Most auto manufacturers agree. BMW is one of a very few that recommend a fluid flush at less than 50,000 miles, if they recommend it at all.

Brake fluid does in fact have additives and water content is not the only factor as I previously mentioned.

When you did your first fluid flush / if it ain't broke don't fix it are irrelevant

$50 for oil change kit from fcp euro with filter and liquid moly. It'll be less if I mail the oil and filter back to them. Yes I said ship it back lol.

Brake fluid I do myself every 2 years or so with a can of brake fluid or if I do a track day I'll bleed in new fluid.

Pretty much every manufacturer recommends 2 year intervals on brake fluid.

How can a dealership be making money when they have to use BMW branded overpriced oil, overpriced BMW branded Mann oil filter, give you a free loaner, pay the mechanic, wash your car, pay the service adviser, etc. $100 oil changes and topping off basically free fluids like windshield washer fluid are how they get you in to pay for the more expensive services.

If you find a good independent mechanic, I'd recommend paying more and going there. It's important to build a good relationship with a good shop. It'll probably end up saving you money if you do have to get some major work done.

Yeh the price you pay for bmw oil and the price the dealer gets it for are two completly not even close numbers..... for what your car needs i bet you the dealer isnt even paying what 1 quart of oil costs you.

I haven't payed for an oil change since I started driving lol. My uncle did all of my oil changes for my Altima. My 430i has free oil changes for the next 3yrs or 36k miles so they'll all be done at the dealer until that free period runs out ha! Then I'll transition over to my uncle for lifetime free maintenance.

I have free oil changes but even paying for it at the dealer you're not saving much vs DIY maybe $10-20 if you buy BMW oil and filters.

Doing my oil change and front brakes now. Will skip the brake fluid flush. Let us old curmudgeons have our rarely change the brake fluid lives and see how long we can go be. Lol.

$12. Purchased a liqui-moly oil change kit from FCP Euro and have been changing oil for free ever since. I only pay for shipping to send back used oil and filter.

I feel like this isn't the way they intended their lifetime warranty to be used though?

Specifically stated on their website and lifetime return policy.
