Hey all -
First time poster here, and recent convert from VW/Audi scene. I was last about to pull the trigger on a Audi A6, but in the end just found it so extremely boring. As soon as I sat in the 340i, I knew it was for me. Some newbie questions (mine didn't come with owners manual!): Backdoor Lock. Is there ANY way to get it to unlock with all the rest, without having to hit the keyfob or center unlock button? It gets me every time when I park, get out, and open the door for my kid. Sport Mode. There are 2 up settings, and 2 down settings. Does it default to a middle setting? Accessories button. This is my first car that doesn't use an actual "key". I'm getting used to the nuances of it, but the annoying thing I can't figure out - when I park, I hit the button to turn the car off, how do I get everything else to turn off? I don't prefer having theme music playing when I arrive and open my doors to get out. Key Fob. I only got one from the dealer. What's the running cost on replacements? I'd imagine it's quite costly? I'll be taking it to the dealer to handle a couple of other outstanding issues and can find out then too. Outside of those things, loving this car. The solid "tightness" of the car truly makes it an amazing experience. Glad to be here! |

Backdoor lock - with BimmerCode you can code it to unlock door on engine turnoff.
Sport mode - I'm assuming you mean between sport+, sport, comfort and eco. It will default to comfort mode. Accessories - you can press the ignition one more time after turning the car off without the foot on the brake. I have my car coded with BimmerCode to turn off all accessories like radio when I open my driver door after turning engine off. Keyfob - I think like 300? 400? Welcome and feel free to ask any other questions so you can enjoy the F30 to the fullest!

This. And with Bimmercode you will change a lot of other things that you'll grown to hate with time like the angle of the dip in side mirror, how many blinks, running light intensity, and much more. |

You are improving my quality of life! Sounds like I need to get this Bimmer Code thing you're talking about. This can all be done by this iPhone app? On my Audi we had to use the VAG-COM that connected by a dongle - not awesome.

With the back doors, you can set the door locks to all unlock with comfort access (if equipped) or a button press and also turn off the setting to lock all doors when you drive. This can be done through the iDrive, no coding required. Of course, this assumes that you don't care if the doors lock when you drive. Also, there is an owners manual in the iDrive you can search through. WRT the key fob, I think 300-400 is correct. I've never done it, but according to some posts the dealer may try to charge you $100 to "program" the key but it's supposedly super easy to do yourself as long as it's a brand new key that's never been programmed. |

Order a keyfob from your dealership parts department then sync it yourself. My replacement fob with key blade cut was $372+tax

Not sure what year your car is, but you can pretty easily find pdfs of owners manuals online.

Congrats! I am a Audi defector as well, was looking at another one. But the BMW, is just more alluring and satisfying to drive, no matter the chassis or Series, E, F or G or the criticism.

If you ask your dealer, they might goodwill the permanent coding with the mothership, which might be desired. Usually they want 1/2 a day. I have VCDS and Bimmercode, BC is pretty cool for coding, but won't read codes. Do I know you from vortex or audiworld? I know my CPO 2013 328i, they turned off the start/stop permanently because I just asked. In my area the BMW dealer is like 1000000x better than the vw or audi dealer, it's usually like "YES!!!!" as opposed to, "it's your fault". Welcome to the fun! |

Also, this is the one I use for android:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Looks like IOS has the same one, works great. BTW if you use VCDS, be prepared for longer loading times using these tools. It's just the way of the DME gods. Also backup your /bimmercode directory after the first scan if you ever have to revert. |

The Bimmercode app itself linked me to Amazon to get the Veepeak, so I suspect that they're getting a piece of the action on Veepeak sales that they refer. If Vgate wouldn't give Bimmercode the same deal that would explain why Bimmercode rendered itself inoperable with Vgate. Quote:

Sport + mode has less traction nannies. I run that as default. The nannies do get a little unpredictable in the wet

Unlock all doors can be set to "unlock all doors" in iDrive under "vehicle setting" submenu
However you have to code it to get it to unlock when you park the car or do the double pull on the inside door handle. Think of it just like double pull to open the hood. My passengers are used to it by now when I don't push the unlock button for them. |

First order will be ceramic tint, blacked out kidneys, and rear spoiler. There are some painted examples from China on eBay that look quite tempting. Looking for the lowest profile one available. Anyone had any luck with the eBay ones? Last edited by Cobra Kai; 09-27-2019 at 11:57 PM.. |
