Seemed more rife to me on the e90 forum. Anyone who wanted a little gain or asked about upgrades who had a 2.0 was shot down and told they'd be better off in a 3.0. If someone has money to burn and is into modifying then why gun them down and say: "Great mods shame about the engine."
We have a 2.0 and a 3.0 and I love them both. |

I've been through a 5L, I have a 3L at the moment and had a slurry of 1.2's to 2.0T's. I like them all for different things, smaller engine cars are awesome for ragging about, you can extract full performance out of them which is fun. Can't beat a good 5L warble in terms of sound.. Bigger engines whilst you can rarely use their grunt to an effective measure, you always have it when you need it and it can be thrilling but I generally prefer super powerful cars for the track (if I ever get the chance). Great for overtaking etc. Not really sure what I prefer, probably a compromise. Enough mid range slug (torque) for effective overtaking whilst being able to extract enough power for it to be fun.. I like to work for it a little bit, maybe 200 to - 230 HP is enough? Weight for me has a lot more to do with it, I like cars to have just enough weight to keep them planted / comfortable (of course with the right suspension) but not enough to have negative impact of initial takeoff / inertia. It's one of the things I found a little frustrating with the M140I and 335D, it's all over in a blink. End of the day, I think a lot of us are just car nuts and enjoy every type of car we can get our hands on. Sure their are cars out there that aren't great to drive, but many you can have a lot of fun with irrelevant of the engine size. Last edited by Firaxis; 02-13-2017 at 04:30 PM.. |
