A bit dissapointed.....
So, I decided to get a bit "hands on" in full manual, giving it some (loads) of beans tonight. Got a bit frisky around a few bends, back spitting out and feeling a bit "wallowy". This is xdrive. I was expecting more grip and less vagueness.......ACS time?

Better? Still unimpressed with the handling. Bum went long before I was expecting. My old MX5 in the same bends was more predictable and therefore faster. Is it just a case of hanging on and hoping that xdrive will gather it all in at some previously undefined point, or increase size of cajõnes.....? |

Yup 335D 435D hits a little point where you're not sure if the cars going to hold. X5 in Sport feels more confidence inspiring,
ACS springs will transform her..... |

Aha! More predictable under steer then? What's the point of 4wd then? I was hoping for a "tow" to pull me straight.....Its as if when the boost kicked in, the thing just wanted to slide....Do I let it go and power out....Confused.com. Front wheel drive oversteer is easy, rear wheel oversteer the same....4WD is a mystery....maybe arse went too soon?

I think that is what he was saying. No problem with the grip letting go initially, but then the 4 wheel drive will regain a bit of traction and pull you straight?

Would you therefore describe the handling as so so suffix?

Makes sense.....I was hoping a "fast" car would be able to handle corners out of the box. Maybe the average "Cherman" can only go fast in a straight line?

I think active damping help the equation too. I have ACS and active but still on RFT (first opportunity will be changing to Michelin PS4) and I've pushed mine pretty vigorously (more so now with the BlueSpark box).
The limiting factor I'm feeling is the tyres but the chassis stability is great. Remember, the xDrive isn't permanent so its not going to be an Audi quattro Sport in challenging conditions. It still has to react to what it perceives to be a loss of stability/traction as opposed to planting all four wheels firmly on the planet by default. |

Even though we shouldnt have to, ACS (or HR) is deffo the way ahead on xDrive. I only had mine a week or so from delivery without ACS but it made such a difference when they were slapped on. Not just to the looks you expect from a coupe but the handling was dramatically transformed. It gives you so much more confidence. Even in Comfort/Eco, the ride quality and stability is what it should have been out the factory; Sharp, precise and predictable. Its a shame you didn't go for adaptive as that really compliments the chassis. No idea what a retro-fit would cost?
