But I don't think they seem to do a good job at communicating the differences especially when considering price variations. Why would I want to pay several thousand dollars more for a 4 series gran coupe over a 3 series sedan for instance? A slightly slooping roofline isn't worth that much to most people. I agree it could bring in more people but I am also frustrated at the lack of many options especially with the F30 regarding interior colors etc that are specific to each line. If you are going to create a whole new chassis to grab more segments, why not expand the options on the ones you have as well?

BMW continues to confuse me. Whats the point of a 4 series grand coupe when you have a 3 series? Since they are going to split 3 series to 3 series as sedan and 4 series as coupes, doesn't that defeat the purpose?

If the interior of this was upscale compared to the regular F30 it would've been my next car. I'm really hoping that this is just a parts type car and it will be a different interior. This in manual form would make a very nice daily.

Well, it is official: BMW is proposing that the new M3 will have an interior that looks like the F20 1-Series.
The F30 interior layout is inspired by the F20 1-Series interior, not by any upper bracket F-chassis car like in past 3-Series interiors based in 5- and 7- Series interiors. So the idea of pushing a 1-Series-like interior to the $90,000 bracket is simply absurd. I think that very few buyers would have bought a $70,000+ E90/E92 M3 with an interior that looked like a 1-Series; I would have not. And what makes it even more absurd is that the whole idea of a 4-Series is to charge more than the 3-Series... but with the same crappy interior and less doors. |

1. Coming from a touch screen navi equipped car, I would love to see I drive with touchscreen technology. It makes life so much easier. However, I would love to see I drive getting more simpler than it is now
2. This interior looks cheaper than that of E46 era. This is the reason why I can't accept the statement "F30 interior is so much upscale than E90". hmm, NO it isn't. I would keep my E90 interior with LCI I Drive system and CF trim all day. plus, those buttons "shapes" and "design" have changed but the layout is exactly the same as E9x models...what's the change ?? 3. 2 series, 4 series, gran coupe bs...BMW will probably come up with 2.5 series and 3.5 series in couple years....rediculous...

How about 3.5 series, so we can call it M3.5 !!!
BMW knows wt it's doing. But I think with all these overlapping models, the used BMW future market ll get affected... Good or bad. |

I hope they do it well. I have a high end Kenwood touchscreen deck and am thoroughly disappointed with it.

I'm highly interested now. I saw a 6 Gran Coupe on the I-405 today and my jaw dropped at how beautiful it was. I hope BMW can pull something off the same with the 4er Gran Coupe!

Compare the central console of the 4Gran Coupe to the posted 7 series.
The 7series climatic control command panel has black glass, it's integrated into the console. The plastic pieces of the central tunnel and console are adjusted and designed to impress with a "monobloc" design. The 4 Gran Coupe? looks cheap, and not better then mass market cars like Peugeot, Citroen, and so on. And one should even pay a hefty premium over a 3 series? |

This interior looks disappointing IMO. Since its 4 series and because of this we can expect price increase, I thought that interior will be more premium than in 3 series. At least they could put electric hand brake. Looks like difference between F30 and F32 will be similar to E90 and E92, so price can't incerase a lot. It will be hard to choose between F32 and new 981 Cayman, which looks great outside and inside.

Umm... no.
E90 vs E82 interior layout and materials: Double hump? No. Hard plastics? No. Center console? No. Door panels? No. Do you really want to see "similar"? F30: F20: Quote:

No doubt that the F30 and F20 are much more similar this generation but no one is fooled thinking that the E90 was very different from the E82. The point is, there was never a drastic change between the 1-Series and 3-Series. Sure the panels might be arranged differently but you can tell that it's it's was designed in a similar way to reflect the character of both car which is supposed to be more sporty than luxury.

I don't know what to think about this because I really like the controls of a car to be simple. The reality is that computer screens are coming to most cars to combine the functions of the now required back up cameras with the radio, AC, and whatever else is available.
