Not sure if the Sport dials in the X3 are the same as yours, I just don't like it, see bottom pic. Too much space, not enough information, and not pleasing to my eye.

Not keen on the bright blue Alpina ones either. Good job Rbrown fixed it for me. I can now have normal comfort dials in Sport mode just from the settings, no coding. Still tells me what mode I'm in on the rev counter, but keeps the better looking, in my opinion anyway, speed and rev counter.

Ps. It still says M40d under the clock in comfort mode, must be a picture of a standard X3 that I found.

Your dials are the updated version of that display compared to mine although the comfort look the same, I actually like the updated sport dials myself I had them in a 730d loaner a while ago they look more like the M dials in the M5.

Might just be me, but my brain tends to ignore the big number in the middle and look at the dial itself. With no numbers on it I can't instantly see what speed I'm doing. Sure my brain would get used to it, but just not keen on the look.

My excuse for brain does the reverse, I'm lost without the big number display, although I've switched off a lot of the indictors showing you how far above the speed limit you are, I swapped out the analogue clock for the digital version as well.

Anyway either are better in my view than the new id7 display with the reverse rev counter.

Pretty pissed off. My wheels might take a month.

Firstly dealer incompetence. They spoke to parts last Monday as promised and he told them they were on back order. They took that as them being ordered and told me just that.

I decided to miss out the middleman today and ring parts for a quick update. He's not ordered any, doesn't know anything about it.

Finally got to the bottom of the conversation and the parts man informed sales that on backorder meant they were out of stock in Germany, not that he'd ordered them.

Order placed today. Now 10-15 days to arrive in Germany, and then another 10-15 days to get to the UK. That's if they arrive in Germany, as the cheery parts man told me they might not.

They reckon they've got not a single other car in group stock that they can nick them from temporarily. Not sure I believe them. Might do some snooping by calling another Stratstone dealer.

Typical dealer incompetence not ordering them, and then just a disappointing and not very clear lead time.

Don't quite feel like I've got the car I ordered yet.

Just checked used cars online and Stratstone in Derby have a used car, 69 plate with 156 miles on it. So probably just a pre reg that's been moved between dealers.

Do I ask them to try and get them? Decisions.....

I missed the first part of this. Are you keeping the same rubber when the rims are switched? If not surely it's a saving there and worth riding out?

For 6 weeks of tyre wear, when they usually last me over 2 years, it isn't really a consideration in my mind.

Better to either get now, or have a longer delay until post winter once the current alloys have been through the worst of winter!!

On that note, assuming the 'risk' here is with the dealer if there was to be any curbing or pothole damage between now and getting the new set?

Plus the small matter that you have 20" tyres and the new ones are 21" the rubber isn't going to fit.

Nope just enjoy a few weeks of free tyres and free alloy wheel insurance.

In a month or so you'll get a mini upgrade, back to spec you ordered.

Best mindset I'd think, but everyone is different and it's not what you ordered just yet.

Agreed I'd just enjoy the car and the free rubber and look forward to the new spanking 21"s

Sods law says that you'll keep the 20's perfect and curb the 21s within days

I'd want to wait for a set of brand spankers myself.

I know that's the sensible choice, drive on what I have, and wait it out. But, the comments from the parts manager that said maybe they won't be on the next stock replenishment in Germany is bothering me. Could be months.

Will decide tomorrow. I might take the old ones and ask for a freebie, like a service, or free alloy and tyre insurance. If they just swap mine onto the pre reg, they can cancel the order and save £4K.
