Flat Tyre Monitor to TPMS conversion
Morning all,
Long time reader but first time poster! I have a 2013 F30 330D X-Drive with the 400 M (18" M Star Spoke) alloys, with what i am assuming is the standard flat tyre monitor (rubber valves & 'Flat Tyre Monitor shown in the I-Drive Vehicle status). A friend of mine HAD (unfortunately was stolen) a 2014 F30 335D X-Drive, and has his old set of 403 M (19" M Star Spoke) alloys still, with tyres, that hes offering me mates rates on. I am assuming that had the full TPMS system based solely on the fact the they have the metal valves and module on the inside of the alloys. To get to my questions; 1) if we simply swap over the wheels, am i likely to get TPMS error codes that will prevent usage of sport etc.. or will my car be able to pick up the different monitor type after a TMPS reset? 2) To get Psi values & temperature readings on the i-drive, would it be a simple case of coding (i note there are options to add on Bimmercode), or are there additional modules needed? I have spoken to my usual garage who have said they could probably code them to work, but they haven't actually seen the car yet (its new to me) and i was wondering if any additional items / control modules are needed based on the fact its different sensors / systems? If its a simple case of coding i could probably do it my self. Any help / and advise from someone who has done this before would be appreciated! |
