(F30 340i w/ BM3 Stg 1) vs (M340i) vs (M3)

Anyone with a 340i running a stage 1 93 octane BM3 tune go up against a stock M340i or M3?

Not trying to start a war, but just curious what would be faster.

On a track or road course, you will still get destroyed by an M3.

I'm talking about a straight line, like from a traffic light or on the highway doing a pull.

That sounds boring.

Depends on the driver honestly. That said from a suspension and drivetrain perspective the m3 is vastly superior. Even the e90 M3 should destroy a heavily modified F30 335i/340i in autocross or on the track.

Ive autoxed against several e92 M3s and even when they are stock they are incredibly hard to beat. To be competitive, my suspension will need to be rebuilt/revalved to the tune of 5-6k and im already suspensioned.

If e92 M3 has its suspension modified, the car moves into a league of its own.

The F80 M3 has too many goodies for the 335/340 to keep up...

Stage 1 should hold pretty even with an M3 in a real world scenario but will lose on the top end. Will beat an M340i for sure.

1StockF30 or Andre, is now fully built motor with upgraded turbo.

If you are a 340i with stage 2 tune including DP, it'll be 50/50 outcome but favoring M3.

The only way to get ahead of the M3 is with the following mods..

XHP Tune
HPFP
E50 custom blend tune
Catless DP
MHD or BM3 with custom tune (no can)
Spark Plugs (Gapped)
Stock Turbo

However, once you upgrade turbo then the landscape changes dramatically with the mods above.

I have an e90 M3, even a 340i with a tune has a hard time keeping up. The 340i gets the jump off the line because it has low end torque. Up through 100mph it is pretty even then the M3 pulls away. The 340i turbo is not designed for top end power. It falls out of the powerband at high rpm and at high speeds ,you are always at high rpm.

I can imagine a stock F80 would be that much faster.

all this work to a b58 makes just buying an m3 and taking the initial hit worth it. Suspension goodies, engine capabilities out the box.

Sort of. Suspension is a key for sure, no questioning.

Engine wise - well the B58 is proving to have a edge on the S55. The S58 is another level, and can't wait to see more tuners and mods being available for it.

But it depends on your goals at the end of it.
