Are you trying to make a unicorn? It seems 6MT was available with virtually every model of F series but in reality a specific configuration may be harder to find.

Hey guys first post here, sorry to bring up an old conversation. But I am going through with this swap, my car is currently a 2013 bmw 328i xdrive with the 8at in it, I bought the 6mt and the harness, the flywheel, clutch, everything. But I’m missing one piece, the harness for the zero gear sensor, does anyone know if that is a separate harness? My tranny harness fits perfect, just doesn’t have the connector for the zero gear sensor, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

This is not like the old days... just an example
240sx/ Silvia S14 transmission mt swap total cost $1500
Used transmission with drive shaft $800 - 1000
Pedal set with clutch cylinder $200-300
Labor $300

BMW
Transmission $$$$
Clutch pedal and supporting parts $$$$
Labor $$$$
Coding $$$$
The best description of change that I have ever read.

Did you figure out the sensor?

I'm not sure what you mean zero gear sensor. Do you mean the gear sensor that's up on top of the transmission?

Not sure about the 328 motors, but on the b58, the manual transmission gear sensor is a 4-pin plug, that comes out of the back of the engine harness. It comes out of the rear plastic junction block on the rear of the engine block up under the intake manifold and cylinder 6.

The automatic 540 harness I have, this wire is missing but the provision in the junction block is there. The larger yellow connector for the automatic trans comes out and is further down there. I wouldn't think the 328 situation will be all that different.

There was a gold 328 wagon on carsandbids.com not too long ago that was manual swapped. The name of the folks that did the swap I believe was in the ad, they might be able to help you.

Attached,

540ix auto harness, no gear sensor, yellow automatic transmission plug, transfer case

340ix harness, gear sensor next to starter negative out of rear junction block

Close up of the 4 pin plug
