New whip finally - 15 435i - impressions/questions
Hey all, so I've been a Grade A lurker on here for a while, posted a 'rate my lease' thread a while back, this place has been a great source of info and opinion as well as a cool little club to be part of. Well the the car finally arrived, had it about a month now, 850ish miles and love it, minor pet peeves aside it's a great car. And I already know that the next one is going to be an M4 because donuts. No mods to speak of beyond tint, refusal to put a front plate on it (f*uck the police) and spacers once they arrive. May get rid of the front bumper reflectors too but not sold on it yet.
I have 2 questions, firstly, for those that have the non M Sport brakes like me, do you find that they throw off a hell of a lot of brake dust? I wash the car and barely 2 days later the wheels (especially front) are coated. Is this a new car/brake thing? And second - this is a dumb one - my interior ventilation fan comes on automatically every time I start the car regardless of the fact that it was off when I was in the car last, is there a way to stop this? Am I missing something super simple? Oh and I guess third question, how are you other owners doing with the MPG? I can't get it over 17MPG (mostly city) for the life of me, even when I drive it almost exclusively in granny mode. What gives? In any case, good to be part of the club, it's a far cry from my 2012 Passat for goddamm sure! Pic below. |

M sport brake pads are known for their dust. noticeably dusty after 2 days sounds about right. The reason is M sport uses Euro pads and the solution is well get new pads with different brand.
As far as AC/fan. The AC will not automatically turn on unless you turn off the car with the AC on. But Fan will almost always turn itself back on. No way around it. Once in a while, when i turn off the car and turn it back on within a short period of time, my Fan stays off when i left it off. So i know there is a grace period for that. As far as MPG, if you drive like a Grandma, you should get low 20s in the city and high 20s hwy. But i personally never trust what the computer says. Do you own calculations with an empty tank and see how many gallons you used to fill up and see what is the total mileage you get out of that tank. FYI i get about 21-22mpg with 80% FWY driving. |

Ok, been driving it a few weeks now, mix of granny mode and drive it like you stole it mode, am I the only one that is really feeling the turbo lag when driving it hard? Mainly going up through gears 1-4 both in manual sport and auto sport.

Nice color
The silver use to be popular for the E9x. Now most F3x are white...nice to see a silver f32

I have the same wheels and M-Sport brakes which give off way more brake dust. I recommend you get Armor All Wheel Protectant. Spray it in on generously after each wash. Don't know how it works but the brakes dust seems to slide right off the face of the wheel and collects in the groove. You will know what I mean after you try it. Not a fan of Armor All products in general but this product really works. It's about $7 at Walmart.

I had non-Msport brakes, and was cleaning the car literally ever two days! Super annoying! Congratulations on the purchase... Beautiful car!
