Having threatened myself with getting esys and associated hardware for the past year, to have a (minor) play with my 4 series - and still not done so, I now have another prompt.

SWMBO has ordered a Pooper. (I know the diesel Mini Cooper is known as a Dooper, so the petrol version should be a Pooper right??).

Question is, can esys also be used for Mini's as well as for BMW's??

Yes of course, it's all the same software, even in Rolls Royces!

You should consider a dongle & Bimmercode though, it's much quicker & easier than e-sys.

Esys is all you need and can do far more than the apps. It's also free and will do mini as well as BMWs

However you need a laptop, it does require setting up and is much more involved

The apps are simple to set up but more limited in capabilities and are not free

I use esys because I'm happy to spend a few hours getting it all set up and tested, I enjoy the challenge a d am also very tight so the free nature of esys appeals

Just depends on what you want to do and what you feel most comfortable with

Just get the virtual disk image (See this post) and run it on any laptop. It's very easy.
