Not another Insurance post

So it’s insurance renewal time and I’ve obviously been shopping around with a view to get the best quote possible. Whilst my renewal through A-Plan wasn’t too bad (£520), I was confident I could do better!

I obviously check the comparison websites and they were coming in around the same, but then I started to go for the independents such as Admiral, LV, Direct Line etc. Happened to stumble Aviva, which is not one of my normal go-to companies but happy I did…

Plugged in all my details and was happy to see a quote of £434 and this is the Premium cover which includes things like Foreign usage, driving other peoples car etc. What surprised me is how cheap they were, vs the others, and after a bit more digging it seems that as my Employers Pensions is handled by Aviva, they had automatically applied a 20% discount to the policy!

So to summarise, if you’re in the same boat with a pension via Aviva, it may be worth checking their website to see if you’re eligible for the same 20% discount

Agreed. If you get it now and do the 200 miles before you sign up you will get a further 14-28% off if you get over 7 out of 10.

That's to your base price, not the add ons like courtesy car or foreign travel. There's a cut off, I think at £400 base insurance price, where if under the top score will get you 14% discount or over £400 it will be 28%.

Defintely worth doing. Set the app to manual start so it doesn't record every journey you do. And drive like you're driving Miss Daisy. After 200 miles a score is sent to Aviva, then you can just delete the app and go back to the fast and the furious....
