Yep thats it, its just the retaining loop that is visible, you have to be almost at ground level to be able to see it

I could scan the instructions if that would help - only two or three pages worth. It would take a pro about 5-10 minutes probably to fit.... the wiring for mine was all in the battery compartment which is in rear driver side of boot. other instructions I've seen require the two cables that plug into the can to be routed to the front passenger side of the car. Let me know if that doesn't make sense. |

The instructions @Craig-SM has linked to are for the pre 4/2014 (LCI??) F3x's. As shown, you have to run the CANBUS cables forward on these models. On RHD models the FEM is on the opposite side to that shown, whilst the battery is still on the offside. Be prepared to extend the cables, no biggie if you have the right crimps & cable, bearing in mind they are very fine cables.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but has anyone got a BMW part number for the heat shield that needs replacing on petrol models?
My local dealer have no idea what I'm talking about, even though Westfalia are pretty clear on their website that it's a BMW part... Chris |

I went with the Curt F30 hitch.
Very happy with the quality, value and the fact that it's relatively discreet. Only required modification is the removal of factory heat shield over exhaust. |

Be assured that would be a good thing I am still hurting from my minor shunt last September because I had the BMW bar fitted and was shunted- no crash bar = force into chassis and into me :-o

I fitted a Westfalia myself to my 440i convertible. It was easy and took less than half a day. Bumper cover is dead easy to take off, just light and a few screws as far as I remember. No extra heatshield really required. Had to trim the existing thick foil shield but it wasn't that difficult. OEM loom really easy to fit. It was supposed to be fed through a hole drilled in the back, but much easier just to thread it through one of the existing vent openings. Works perfectly. No coding required.

That was my next step... looking at aftermarket options but would prefer OEM if such a thing exists. |

And does it disable 'coasting' in EcoPro? Will be doing about 5,000 miles in Summer with a bike carrier on the back, and want to be able to coast down the Alps as part of that

Which towbar for M Sport with Performance pack?
Hey Folks,
Sorry newbie to forums and stuff. I've just bought a 2013 F31 330d M Sport with Performance pack, and I'm unsure if the rear diffuser fitted to rear bumper is any lower than any M Sport without Performance pack? I have emailed Brink, with photos of rear of my car, who have never fitted one of theirs to my model variant, and reckon there would be a substantial bumper cutout required for both of their detachables. Shame, since I can get the diagonal Brink detachable for £154 delivered. Having seen the excellent photos on this thread, maybe the Westfalia would fit mine without destroying diffuser, but has anyone fitted towbar to their Performance model? Also, I thought that the Westfalia elec fitting kit seemed the best, as it all wires in within bootbay, but someone has noted only so for 2014 on LCI? Is this correct?, maybe I read instructions for wrong Westfalia kit? Regards, Dunc |

Westfalia say their kit won't fit on M Performance models, but a guy in the US has fitted one to his M3, which seemed to have much less clearance for anything.
So I've ordered a Westfalia, should be arriving in the next couple of days, and I will make it fit. I have an angle grinder, hole cutter, and a large hammer, it is going to fit! Westfalia seemed to come out best in all the models I've seen discussed. |

Can anyone PLEASE recommend a wiring harness / trailer loom for the F30?
Ive seen some that install with zero cutting or splicing and was hoping to find a quality option of that type. What are you guys using? Any part numbers to share? |
