F30 Need more comfort and less harsh (now b8+eibach)
I have installed Bilstein b8 and Eibach spring (b12) for my F30 for 2 months. My tires are 18" Hankook v12 evo2 225/45/18. I feel very good except the harsh and feel uncomfortable when drive under 50mph. Drive at high speed is superb. Then I need more comfort and less harsh.
After a short research, I have ideas
Do you guys have any idea of upgrade? Pleas suggest. Thank you very much. |

I've ordered the Dinan Sport springs with the custom "ride and handling kit" (revised bumpstops) to pair with Bilstein B8s front and rear.

Don't exceed 2,1bar front & 2,3bar rear with 225/45/18 all round in cold condition.

I vote for Koni Yellow. I had them on a previous vehicle and was able to adjust the stiffness of the ride to some degree. Softer when driving around in a city with potholes and stiffer for the backroads.
Both adjustments were made on the top of the tubes; however, I am unsure where the adjustment knobs would be for the f30. |

I can't find Dinan spring here in Thailand. Finally, I end up with D2 RS (coilovers). I've just bought and installed today. After 30-40km ride, it was much more comfort than B12 and no harsh but still stiff (a bit less than B12). Overall, I'm happy with this setup. Here the price of D2 set is cheaper than B12.
PS. the mechanic guy adjusted the damping to about 55% of the most stiff (it's adjustable). |

Don't install aftermarket "Performance" suspension systems if you want a "Factory" comfort ride. BMW engineers work literally thousands of hours to make your ride fit the majority of customers where comfort with a little bit of sport is offered. You went to a system where Bilstein spent alot less time with people that are not BMW suspension experts, they have to be experts on all systems, to design a system that significantly improves the sport aspect of your car with as minimal as possibly comfort sacrifice. You fit into the category that cannot accept that little comfort sacrifice. From the E90 forums we have been having this conversation there for many years now. The only system that gains a little performance but gives up the least comfort is the KW Street Comfort coilover system. Either man up on the comfort side, try the KW system or go back to stock. Good Luck with your suspension quest - but remember it is very difficult to do better than what the BMW engineers have given you for all around comfort and performance.
