320i exhaust valve retrofit questions

Hello everyone,

I have changed my 320i stock exhaust to 335i exhaust with the electrical exhaust flap. For reference, the flap system is described in https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ystem/Im2GgsKi

While it sounds amazing with catted Wagner DP, I would like to utilize the flap feature in comfort and eco modes. I have BM3, which provides flap control parameters in the config. That leads me to believe that the BM3 Stage 2 software in DME may be able to control a flap even in 320i. I inspected my current DME wiring, and it seems that the flap control pin is unpopulated in the DME connector A46*1B, so cabling needs to be added. I have a few questions about it.

1. Has anyone attempted this?

2. Does anybody have any idea which BMW part number is the spare socket contact for the A46*1B DME connector?

My plan is to buy a socket contact, inspect the output signal with an oscilloscope and if it seems valid, run wiring to the back of the car. I can get 12v from the rear fuse box and ground from some nearest GND tap.

Here is the A46*1B connector view: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...e-lim/GPcd24w9

And here wiring for the exhaust flap: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ystem/GS1zpZLe

Thanks for any input! BMW part number or any other ideas for getting my hands on spare DME socket contact would be greatly appreciated!

Just had a look at this, looks like the exhaust flap runs from the foot pedal for signal (open-close) dependent on revs, then power and ground. Still unsure how the different driving modes affect the flap, but I guess this could be due to this affecting pedal-throttle response (sharpness)

I may look into this more as going to put a 328i backbox onto my 320i and would like to use the flap. Other option would be a remote switch to just open or close it.

Interested to know if OP ever got anywhere with this

Looks like a pain in the a$$

Easier to fit one of these…. Just need a fuse box tap and female cigarette adaptor

Reviving an old thread.
Did anyone manage to do this? I have a b48 320i with a 335i mpe and i really want to make the flap work.

I can provide a wire from the dme and 12v and ground to the flap. But i just don’t want to go through all this hassle if it won’t work.
