That's why I never went with the Bimmertech. I have an NBT 8.8" screen. If you all are interested, I'll post pics.

Install tutorial:

This is for the bimmertech one. I'm assuming it's pretty similar if not the same as OP's

Do did you need to code this camera mod? Also how is quality of this camera at night. Really interested in this one. For this price it's a bargain

Thanks man. Appreciate it. How does it perform at night?

BTW, you desperately need an 8.8 display! I got mine from ebay for $200 a few months ago.

No coding of any kind needed and at night is pretty damn bright! I will make video of the dark soon.

I agree! Is is possible to just buy the 8.8 screen from a car that is parting out and plug it into my current vehicle? Wouldn't the image look stretched? I youtubed a few other and they are all retrofit with modules etc.

Can i just buy the screen from a part out and install it into mine without any extra modules?

Thats correct. Its just plug and play. No coding necessary. The iDrive system adjusts the resolution automatically.

dumb question but is there an easy way to figure this out, or do you need to remove everything just to check?

think i found the answer: "If your car equips with CIC system, then the LVDS plug maybe 4 pin or 6 pin. You must remove the original screen to check it is 4 pin or 6 pin. The products are totally different, if you choose wrong LVDS connector style, you will get wrong product."

i guess the question is then, is there any other way to check/know what connection you have?

btw, great find OP! backup camera is the one thing i regret leaving out of my requirements and the bimmertech retrofit was always too pricey to me.

Do you know if you have the NBT or CIC unit? If CIC, I think you still need to manually check because the pins could be either 4 or 6.

If you have NBT, they can tell you which one you need straight up because there is only one type of connector.

This is the response they sent me when I sent them my vehicle info:

Hi, please choose iDrive CIC system with 6 pin LVDS plug.
If the existing screen on your car is 6.5 inch, please choose 6.5 inch screen
If the existing screen on your car is 8.8 inch, please choose 8.8 inch screen

Just picked one up yesteday fir $170.

Another reason to do the installation video of this cam, ill have to take it all apart to install the new 8.8 inch screen. I always thought the image would be stretched thats why i didnt bother buying a 8.8 but now one is one the way! Thanks for the tip bro.
