Is this body kit too good to be true?

Haven't done much work on my F36 440i, but I found this on eBay and It looks very nice. A front lip, spoiler, and diffuser for a very decent price. I don't really care if it isn't real carbon fiber, so long as it doesn't fall off of my car. Does anyone have any experience with kits like this or any recommendations?

Thanks!

"Carbon Fiber Style" means they're not carbon fibre. As for fixing, they can be as secure as you want them to be: use both adhesive AND screws / rivets.

Seems like a pretty low price for a full kit (a little suspicious), but could be a good pick up

That's what I thought. Any experience with this type of material? Is the styling likely to rub off or ware easily?

Those are made of ABS+PP. I consider the front lip to be a wear item as it is quite low even on stock ride height and it drags even if you are careful. My PP front lip was worn/damaged in the middle after about 8000 miles. Paid around $115 for it on ebay.

I opted for a real CF (knockoff, ebay) spoiler and it was just barely over $100. My concern with CF "style" like that is if you park in the sun a lot and the finish fades over time.

I like the front lip and the diffuser, just not a fan of the rear spoiler. I wish I could get that kit with more of an OEM style spoiler. Something a bit more subtle.

I literally ordered the same kit from this seller for my F30, upon realizing it was Carbon Fiber “Style”. It looks like it’ll be a printed CF pattern.
I mean I wasn’t expecting real CF, but a higher quality knockoff (It probably won’t be).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carbon-Fibe...-127632-2357-0

(Order it at $245, not sure why price went up)

I figured it’ll get scratched up anyways, why not go cheap. Planning to try it on and if I don’t like it, sand all of it down and spray paint everything gloss black.

It’ll arrive today and I’ll report back.

That'd be awesome if you could report back. Thanks!

"Is this too good to be true?"

Yes.

You drive a BMW. Please do not put a $300 ebay body kit on it. Save that for the Civic crowd.

After going 0/2 on diffusers off eBay I've given up. They never fit good. I'd stay away. I have however bought other parts like front lips, trunk lids, splitters, and those all seem to be fine. Just the diffusers for some reason never wanna fit just right. I'm only going OEM or spending the big bucks on known brands for those from now on.

Maybe I belong in the Civic crowd. No shame in experimenting with cheaper body kits. It's just a BMW.

Doesn't look too bad, most likely it's the same mold and everything else aka ikon motor sports and just hydro dipped to be carbon fiber style.

eBay isn't bad, but I'd go to the source, ikon motor sports and fitment is almost guaranteed. If not, you submit pictures and they send you a return label + your purchase price from eBay and PayPal.

Sorry it did not come in that day, but it did come in today.

Overall, I’m not even mad at the quality. It’s pretty much what I expected. Plastic dipped in a CF pattern. You get what you paid for.

I’m trying to reach out to the seller (since they are local in LA) if I can exchange for gloss black instead. If not, I’ll slap it on and try it out. But I’ll eventually try to paint it gloss black myself.

Sorry for the late post and noob to forums, plus I was super busy with the holiday season. Hope this helps.

Update: I returned the CF style and got gloss black from the same supplier on eBay.

Planning on installing this weekend. Keep you updated.

Did you end up installing it? How did the fitment go?

Sorry for lagging on the post.

So I returned the "CF style" ones and got the gloss black from the same supplier (they were very accommodating).

Front Lip: fitment 8/10, two bumper side pieces doesn't entirely fill in the gap (probably because of the 3M double sided tape). Will re do it at some point.

Bottom piece bolt slots for the screws did not fit. Has to use the provided self tapping screws in a different area. 7 in total, and it's solid on there. Would recommend pre-drilling holes for the self tapping screws. (Install time by myself 1hr)

Rear diffuser: fitment 8/10, it did not line up properly to the clips to the bumper. Had to lightly use a heat gun and bend it a bit, then a lot of finessin'. There is gap on both sides up close, but not noticeable. (Install time 1.5hrs)

Spoiler: Wasn't really smooth as I wanted, so I ended up buying another spoiler that was real carbon fiber this time.

Spoiler real carbon fiber Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-18-BMW-3...-127632-2357-0

Overall I'm pretty please with the price I paid, even though I didn't use the spoiler. (Have it for sell in LA, if anyone wants it. $60 obo). I've driven on the freeway and everywhere, it won't fall off. Did also scrape it a couple of times on driveways and dips.

Hope this helps, thank you for your patience.

Wow, really nice photos. I love the blue and black contrast. I'm curious to know how the carbon fiber version of this kit looks on our cars!

Loving that style trunk spoiler. Gotta see if they offer that for the F36. If so, that'll be added to my wish list!
