Yeah there ought to be a way to reset the i-Drive, it apparently didn't download the message and you should be able to delete all previous profiles and create a new one with your settings sycn'd to a particular keyfob. I wish BMW would allow the head unit to be tethered to a phone like a mobile hot spot, but that would require a wifi adapter. Still, wouldn't be that expensive and you could continue to use connected drive just by tethering to your phone, seems like something obvious to do. Not sure if this is possible on the Apple Car Play head units that are wireless if you can use the phone to connect to the internet.

I thought the same exact thing, but I created a brand new profile and it still shows that message icon up there...

Hey, I had the same issue.
Connect phone to blue tooth as you would normally.
Go to iPhone (not sure about android)Bluetooth settings.
Turn on notifications from there
Go back to telephone on I drive
Click on messages. And open all of the messages that's there.
Then once all of them are opened the message icon should disappear. Let me know if that works.

Mine's a 2013 so they disabled the 3G service here in the states, and I'm not retrofitting the new combox just for that stupid envelope, but I sure wish that wasn't my only option lol..!

I have 2013 also. Give it a shot. The messages still popped up from a while ago, and I was able to clear them.

Sweet, thanks man I'll give it a go! It's still kinda silly to me that we can't do a hard reset on the iDrive..

You're welcome! I agree 100% that there should be another way, but once you do it. You'll see that it was really simple as the OP mentioned.
