Remanufactured crate motors perfect for a project car like a custom lotus Elise. Would rather use this than a Camry engine. Though a junk yard engine from a donor vehicle would be way cheaper.

10k costs as much as a whole car. Can get a salvage car with engine for less than that.

Sure, but it wouldn’t be remanufactured by BMW though.

That price is likely just for a short block...no way that it includes the cylinder head, manifolds, and other external parts.

Where are you getting these prices from? They sound awfully cheap - does the price require a "core exchange" (old engine)?

I'd like to see part numbers that pulls up that price... But it isn't unheard of. The N63 V8 with all the problems was heavily discounted by BMW to where the used engines were more expensive than the factory perfect new fixed rebuilds from BMW.

Might want to consider getting a used n55 donor vehicle. 6k for a remanufactured engine? Is this with a factory warranty? If you're adventurous maybe do an LS swap from a camaro donor vehicle. What are you using this engine for? I saw a K20 fitted to an E36 at bimmerfest
