F31 Error code: 244800 "Information particle filter limited remaining distance"
Checking the fault memory with ISTA today revealed this error code: 244800 "Information particle filter limited remaining distance".
I don't think there's anything wrong with DPF, but since I am an ISTA newbie, I would like someone to share how to check values related to the DPF and what range they should be, like ash, sot, and backpressure. I've read several places that people clear the error, and some also reset the DPF so that it seems the DPF has been replaced. Should I do this? How do I restart the regeneration cycles and additionally help along the processes? |

You can have the dpf cleaned (or do it at home, and register an exchanged dpf (ISTA), or exchange the dpf and register the exchange. Then the information message will go away.

It's currently at 120k miles.
Yesterday evening I did a backpressure test using ISTA with nominal values. Soot mass is OK, and the last regen was more than 300 miles back, meaning no super frequent regens. I only run this car on highways, and typically for more than 30 minutes at a time commuting to work, so plenty of opportunities to do regens if it thought it would be necessary. I reset the DPF and deleted the fault codes and will monitor the backpressure and soot mass for some time to ensure everything is ok. |

It is the calculated accumulation of ash that cannot be cleared by regenerations. This is what the washing is for.
But yes, I have seen that they have a lot more life in them than the information code. The information code (no Check Engine Light) eventually changes to a check engine light when it nears replacement. It is not time for replacement now.

Error 244800
Hello, I received error 244800 with a mileage of 210,000 km. I tried resetting but it comes back. Does this mean that the filter needs to be replaced? I checked the dpf on average and it burns out every 500km

Soot and ash readings are calculated, so it's of more value to monitor the actual DPF differential pressure. A high pressure differential means it needs cleaning or replacement.
I would use Bimmerlink for that as it's easier to read on your phone whilst driving. With ISTA you need a passenger to read the laptop screen. |

whats a fair price for one of those DPF cleaning businesses to clean your dpf? And does it need to be cut out or does it have service clamps?
thanks guys. I am at 95k miles and no issues yet with my dpf. Im just curious. |
