- which also means the echo is gone!
- i can use steering wheel phone button to pickup and hangup calls
- AA auto day/night works based on cars headlights

Have to say i am running SW v2.0.B0.mod and bimmertech MCU 10.6.18.21 on andream.

It also added another issue someone pointed out earlier which was not present in the previous custom version:
- when a call comes in on AA i am unable to move focus via commander knob to the middle screen and tilt to top to set focus on either hangup or pickup call. Workaround is steering wheel button but just wanted to point out the issue is there and is not fixable via clearing AA cache.
- minor issue; in AA when a call comes through or you call someone, it says "no bluetooth connection" but everything works. I believe it says this because theres no bluetooth connection active to the MMI and things are being handled by idrive.
Just to clarify how you have this set up. Do you have the bluetooth connection to the MMI set for 'media audio' only, and the bluetooth connection to the OEM iDrive is 'phone calls' only? Plus contact sharing to both I guess?
absolutely awesome job guys i love it although have a few questions please

what's reverse cam alternative

it doesn't recognise the bimmertec mcu

i need a password to connect to the wifi? can't use autolink

Is this enabled by default and is it possible to disable it? Some of us don't have bluetooth

Anyone have a good suggestion on an alternative vendor than Andream for the hardware?

I bought an Andream unit 6 weeks ago direct from their website store and it's been a bit of a pain in the rear ever since. Their shipping company lost the package in the US (no movement in over 3 weeks) and the guys over at Andream have basically washed their hands of the situation saying there's nothing they can do about it because they can't track the package.

I'd probably caution others from purchasing direct from their web store as well or just use another version.

The whole reason for going with Andream was that it appeared to be better supported especially among a lot of the custom firmware work going on but now it's looking like that's less important now.

what's reverse cam alternative - no idea (didn't see to change anything when I tried it)

it doesn't recognise the bimmertec mcu - it does, do not rename it, they name it upgrade_mmi.bin for a reason

i need a password to connect to the wifi? can't use autolink - don't need it with carplay but iirc the password for the wifi is 12345678

it's not showing any bluetooth connection to the mmi - no idea don't have an android

Mine doesnt!? It uses idrive for phonecalls now 100% confirmed! No echo, can accept using steering wheel and see the callers number in my cluster when running AA!

I dont have a bluetooth connection to the MMI at all. Not sure it uses it in the beginning probably does but only to start up Wifi.

To idrive my bluetooth connection is set to calls and audion, i got the other 2 off as i dont care about messages or contacts in my idrive, got AA for that.

No, but i guess by not updating to the newest custom release but use your vendors release instead.

Is there a parameter we can set in an ini file for the MINI version ? Don't know, just asking.
Don't need the menu, but if we can hard coding this in the fw, it would be ok I think.

EDIT : Maybe a Andream FW base for MINI can be a work around too. Do know how much work it need. V1.0 on 2.1.0.7 was OK but with BMW Logos ;-).

Which means if Andream / Carlinkit / Bimmertech / Roadtop etc stop doing updates for the older boxes, your newer unit will also no longer get any updates.
So it's not advised to flash the custom firmware for the newer B units?

Hi,

Just wanted to what a great job you’ve done!
One thing I’ve noticed today after installing the custom firmware v2 to my Mini, the volume for the navigation is low. When I go to increase it when the Navigation is talking, it increases everything including the radio via the Tunein app. This then makes the radio too loud.

I’ve tried setting the volume to ‘Loud’ in Google Maps settings but is doesn’t appear to do anything.

Any ideas?

Gemini_pack_bin

This is a great thread. I've ended reading all the CarPlay stuff and gone and purchased and fitted a Road Top version of off Amazon. Very pleased!

Question: I've seen the firmware and MCU upgrades at the beginning of the thread. However none of them work for me.

I'ver used the RoadTop NBT versions below

v2.1.0.6.lt.b
MCU 20.06.02

I get the following message: no Gemini_pack_bin

Any ideas? thanks

Try reformatting the flash drive again with FAT32. I had this issue and the file name error was a red herring, it picked up the update files fine after doing this.

You have one of the newer "B" units like me. There's currently no compatible software.

I thought that I read last week or so that Andream started adding AA wide-screen support on their new units. Is that not the case?

I don't have the widescreen layout that is shown on page 1. I have an 8.8 in screen. My version is B_V1.0.0, it's possible the B_V1.0.2 has this, but the update didn't work for me. Not sure why but haven't investigated much yet.

Yes the B_v1.0.2 has the widescreen in it, but no dpi fix.

Hey, I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these MMI add-ons, and I've read through the thread quite a bit, but I want to make sure I've got all the answers I need before making my decision. Vehicle is a 2013 X3 F25 35i, manufacture date 04/2012 with 103K miles, CIC system 8.8", rear and side mirror cameras. MMI device I plan on ordering is a RoadTop model from Amazon, AA usage only.

1. Will there be any issue with the top/overhead parking view, or the side mirror cameras regardless? All documentation I've seen so far only mention front and rear cameras, but nothing about side mirror cameras.

2. Is the additional(?) USB female cable required for install? Can the USB port inside the center console be used for any and all MMI USB connection/functionality? Likewise, am I going to need to run a 3.5mm cable to the aux port in the center console?

3. Do I need to be concerned about any 'widescreen' issues, based on my 8.8" screen size?

4. Is there any additional storage provided by the MMI unit/impacting the CIC storage space? I am researching swapping out the HDD for a possible SD-to-IDE adapter upgrade or similar in the future.

5. *Purely an opinion*, but is there any incentive to spend the extra money on a complete touchscreen replacement android auto upgrade vs just the MMI addition? Is the software/hardware/support for one type of upgrade more stable than the other?

That's all I can think of for now, thanks!

Was able to update the to 1.0.2 with a different USB drive and got the MCU updated too. Still don't have the widescreen though

Sorry my mistake.

It was v2.1.0.8.multiusb.gpe.b that they fixed it in not the B version
