I'm pretty sure the rotors were original on my 2015 F30 N55 xDrive ///M Sport with blue ///M Sport calipers (~62k miles) so I decided to upgrade the rotors to the Power Stop Evolution Z23. Sure, I know cross-drilling and slotting adds little if any performance benefit, but man they sure look cool! Pads were changed at 37k and have a good bit of meat left on them so I reused all the pads and sensors.

This is not a track car so I don't need two-piece rotors. And since one-piece rotors are essentially hunks of steel without much tech involved in their development, I decided to go with the Power Stops since they were less than half the price of the equivalent StopTech rotor. Mine are 370mm front (Power Stop #EBR1438XPR) and 340mm rear (Power Stop #EBR1416XPR) and I got all four delivered Rockauto for $321!!

I will not make this a DIY b/c the one Daggers made was more than thorough enough. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1464075

Installation: Straight forward. BMW (at least on the M Sport calipers) has started using a design similar to Porsche where you can remove the pads from the caliper without removing the caliper from the rotor so that was refreshing to see and will be handy when I need to eventually replace the pads. Getting my spacers off required using my wife's hairdryer and getting the rotors off required a couple good wacks with rubber mallet. Space was a bit tight on the rear when trying to retorque the caliper bolts, but I made it work.

Fit and finish: The rotors look great and fit well. Zero issues whatsoever. Packaging was good from Power Stop as well as Rockauto (which had free 2 day shipping, btw).

Performance: I immediately bedded them in, and they're working great. No issues whatsoever. No squeaking, squealing, humming, vibrating, etc. Stopping power is essentially the same as OEM b/c, again, rotors don't do much for stopping especially if using the same pads.

Value: A++++++++. I've only had them on a week, but I can't fathom why anyone would pay double or even triple for StopTech or OEM [one-piece] rotors. These things are awesome. They went on fine, look great, and work well. What more can I say?

(Rear install was interrupted by the sound of ghetto birds overhead...once I realized it was the BLM protestors who were just 8 blocks away, I had to make a necessary addition to my tool set )

Oh, it's a classic, alright. Sig P226 from back when they were still made in West Germany before they moved production to the States!

Yup! I was like, "No rail, and no front slide serrations, this one looks a bit older." I've got some West German marked Sig stuff too, great stuff!

The rotors look good!

As a side note, the third picture is a great example of how far technology embedded itself in our lives: laptop in the garage, WiFi for real time access to diagrams or videos, pictures created in real time ...

Looks great! I have a B58 F30 X - so this should be very smilier. I don't have the blue brake but got an idea for reference.

What suspension are you on?

Yep I included that as a subtle tip of the hat to Daggers ...that's his thread I was referencing throughout the installation.

I'd assume it would be similar. You ought to be able to find the appriopriate DIY here or on youtube. I'm on Bilstein Damptronics. The legit kind that plug into the OEM adaptive system and are controlled with the sport button on the console. I seem to be one of the first (if not THE first) person to get these around here. I'm not done tweaking them so I haven't written my full review, but I will in the next couple weeks. So far they're great, but didn't drop as low as I hoped/expected. That's the short version.

A member PM'd me asking about how these are holding up so I figured I'd share it here so everyone can remain informed...

It's been three months and a couple thousand miles and so far the rotors are still perfect. They stop great, and there's zero noise, zero vibrations, and zero rust. I couldn't be happier with them. It still boggles my mind on the price difference between these and other options. Either these guys are bleeding money on these rotors, or all the other rotor manufacturers are totally screwing us...my guess is the latter.

Attached is a pic I just took a few minutes ago for reference.

Thanks for keeping us updated with the way they are holding up. they are very inexpensive but seem to be a fantastic value and alternative

I wish this information had been available about a month ago, when I started putting together the parts for my brake upgrade. At least it was only rotors and not calipers.

C'est la vie.

I'll certainly keep this in mind if/when I need to replace my new rotors.

Thank you for the excellent update

Thanks for the post and follow up. I’m with you. I don’t know how some people can spend more on a part just because it has a fancy name.

OP, Have you experienced any increase in brake system noise (Applied or not) with the slotted/drilled rotors? There are several posts in this section noting an increase in noise over the blank rotors.

FYI- price difference is because Powerstop is made in Asia and metallurgy may not be the quality level of competition. Friend of mine who has built some amazing cars tried Powerstops on his wife's car and said they were a nightmare of a product and a nightmare of a company to deal with. Said that they kept warping.

IMO Zimmermann are great German replacement rotors. StopTech are my go-to high performance rotors. Made in Asia but very high quality design and metallurgy. Directional rotors with internal vanes designed for best airflow and cooling. Mine were also coated against rust in US.

Like I said above, I've had literally ZERO problems with these rotors (on stock pads). They're 100% silent, no shakes or rattles, stop great, no rust, etc.
