- Review - Flatout Suspension SR series

Just wanted to toss another suspension company into the mix for those that are looking for options. I won't bore anybody and go into detail as to what this kit has. For that you can check out their site for all the info. I will mention that this kit does include radial bearings and camber plates along with 30 way dampening. Every kit is also custom valved for each specific car model. Now that does mean there's a 2-3 week build time which includes a dyno session so keep that in mind. The SR series which is their entry level street kit rides great so far. The car stays nice and level and all those imperfections in these shitty LA roads get soaked up nicely. Before I was on H&R super sports which were good but a bit too soft for the wagon. I would recommend skipping those for anyone considering them. I have had other coils in the past and those were super bouncy. These are not bouncy in any way. I should mention that I did have factory EDC with my Msport suspension which I hated. The normal setting was way to soft and the race mode was stiff with a harsh ride that just bounced over everything. I'm glad I took the chance on this company and I recommend you guys consider these in your suspension search

Key features:
- 20 Points of rebound
- Radial bearing (front only)
- Electroplated assembly
- Camber plates included
- Inverted rear shock with rebound adjustment at bottom

Kit cost (excluding shipping) - $1,380

Seems to be similar to Fortune Auto and Broadway Static. Where is this company based out of?

Also, what spring rates did you go with?

Not sure about those companies. These guys are based out of Maryland though.

Yeah looks like the same supplier of parts, BC included.

What I like here, and is different from the rest of the pack, at least for this/our model, is that inverted rear strut. The only other options for this are the PSS10 and Ohlins. Both of those will set you back $2K+.

In for more details. I'm in the market, Fortune auto doesn't make anything for Xdrive. I've had BCs before and just want to try something new. Was leaning hard towards PSS10.

Which coilovers did you have before? This is a vague statement

I wasn't aware that the inverted rear strut was that rare. That's good to know that they're doing something like that at this price point.

I was running BC on my F80 M3 and Solo Werks on my B8.5 S4. The Solo werks were super bouncy and I have videos where you can see the bouncing. The BC weren't as bouncy as the Solo Werks and I wouldn't classify them as stiff but they both got the job done. At the end of the day all I wanted was to be low and level as opposed to springs. It always seems that the fronts sit so much higher then the rear when if comes to springs.

Made a mistake when listing the key features. It's 20 points of rebound adjustment not 30 points of dampening

I'll reach out to them and see what they gave me. I didn't choose the rates.

I wanted something better than BC and not as expensive as KW. They also had some features that I couldn't get with others at this price point.

Just talked to them, they recommend 8/11k but can do 5/16k no problem with Hypercoil springs... Tempting... But how can I assure that they will valve it to the spring rate?

Did they mention anything about the increased cost if adding swift springs? This might be the set I get just because of the inverted rear adjustment. I dont have the garage space to remove and adjust the rears to dial them in

I don’t know if you can upgrade the base model (SR - $1380) with Hypercoil springs, but the higher end model (ST - $1880) comes with upgraded Hypercoil springs.

Edit: Upgraded Hypercoil springs, not Swift.

Geez thanks... I had my mind all set up to get yellow Koni with the E10-20-031-02-22 springs .... now you throw this into the picture... and it looks like it comes complete... what about winters? ... I'm a set it and forget it kind of guy on something like this... I only want to drop 30mm ... nothing out there can do it that has adjustable dampers except ST but those aren't good in the winter I'm told.. KW's are way to expensive...guess I'll call them... the bodys are electroplated and has boots... hmmm ... Oh sh** ... they specifically talk about salt in the winter... looks like I'm gonna go with these... They offer 3 year warranty knowing these shocks are getting tracked... that impresses me... they mentioned an optional rubber pad... gonna check that out...

I bought them! Got a 10% discount going thru their facebook page! $1242 plus shipping $34.91 = $ 1276.91.... and no taxes... can't beat that...

Can someone help me out and let me know if these are the only Strut bolts I need... not gonna reuse the existing ones after reading that one guy snapped one putting his strut brace on...

Mfg Part # 31-30-6-869-931

P.s. you have the choice of using camber plate or OEM but no camber adjustment...

Check out the Meme on their facebook page for winter coming... it's hilarious...

This is what it says on their facebook page...

"A lot of companies offer coilovers that aren’t well suited for winter. There’s nothing protecting raw steel from aluminum except a thin coat of black paint. Our shocks are electroplated with nickel to give 7-10 years of corrosion resistance."

That sold me plus all the other features... I'll report back after I have them installed... I'm excited...
