Front splitter - painted or not?
For the new car, have decided to go for the splitter but I'm undecided as to whether to have it painted or not. I prefer the body-colour look but leaving it black would help hide the road rash that I'm assuming these things will pick up? Those flat faces low to the road look like gravel magnets!
Reckon the splitter finishes off the M Sport bumper nicely, but for the rest of the MPP kit, am undecided about the side decals and rear diffuser, don't fancy the boot spoiler as it's too big (think there's a smaller non-MPP version you can get?), definitely don't want the stripes, will stick with the 442Ms and would probably go with the performance exhaust at a later date.

I think painted for the front splitter. See a recent pic of Daftasabrush's car - really sets it off.
To help the reduce the impact of the road rash if you do go for painted, get a few extra layers of paint on and maybe a dark primer later so they are not so visible. |

None painted... At least it won't look so bad when you scuff it. and you will scuff it at some point!

Hmmm, leaving the bottom section black is more practical (for that inevitable scuff?) although from a distance it does get lost a bit, so resembles the standard M Sport bumper.

Its mainly plastic rivets, but the winglets are supposed to be with glue, but stuff that as it wrecks the bumper paint underneath when/if removed! I used super sticky 3m double sided tape instead and so far it seems to be holding fine
This is the mess left behind unless you tell them not to use the glue and use tape: |

I agree, EBII is one of those colours where I think a body-coloured splitter looks nice, it's more how likely it is to get ruined by stone-chips etc., being that close to the road. Round these parts, road resurfacing (top-dressing?) seems to involve spraying tar everywhere, scattering tons of gravel then letting the traffic do the rest!
There's another EBII coloured splitter here - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...1&d=1359161231

That does look ok, but to me its a bit too much blue lol!
The trouble is its very hard to do them justice with pics, might be an idea to find out if you can see some different options in the flesh, after all everyone has different tastes Or, why not fit it with the winglets sprayed, then if you don't like it you can get the rest done, but if you spray it all its much more difficult to go back...............? Just a thought |
