It's disgusting with these dealers. You have to get lucky. My home dealer is horrible and I will denounce them. BMW of bayside is by far the worst dealership
Because they're in business to MAKE money?

I purchased a post 11/2012 Performance Power Kit from BMW of San Diego for $850 total, shipped. I called my SA at Chapman BMW on Camelback here in Phoenix (whom I've been going to for a few years) to get a quote for installation and was told that according to their General Manager, they can only install parts purchased through their own parts department. wtf? I guess I'll have to call the other dealerships in the area. It makes me not want to take my car there anymore.

If you're speaking of the PPK that includes the black grilles and exhaust, yes, you can install that yourself. If you're referring to the M-Performance Power Kit, you cannot install the software yourself - it has to be done at a dealership and "registered" to your car. The kit includes a new engine cover, lower air intake box, a stick-on plaque (to indicate the kit has been installed) and some rocker panel graphics ("M Performance"). These you can do yourself, but you will need to take the red envelope with the software code key to a dealer or someone who has the official BMW computer setup for the software update. It is actually downloaded from BMW and then pushed into your DME.

MPPK to September 2012 build F30 335i?

My 335i F30 335i is a September 2012 build. According to BMW USA, this kit is only available on November 2012 or later build 335i F30s as it does not include the newer DME which is installed on November and later F30 335i models.

Today I went to my local BMW dealer to try to order and have the MPPK installed on my September 2012 build F30 335i. They said that the Kit available at BMW USA does indeed need the newer DME than installed on my car. The dealer also told me that they would check with BMW, but said that they were uncertain if it could be done to my car. If it could be done then it might be a good deal more expensive, but they did not know how much more expensive as a new DME would have to be installed in my car.

I subsequently checked on line to find that there is indeed a kit is available at Tischer getbmwparts.com for pre-November 2012 F30 335i builds which is only $100 more in cost, there but that a new DME from Germany must also be ordered, and to allow for a couple of weeks for shipment. That is ok by me, but I do not want to order from them only to find out that there might be problems with installation at my local BMW dealer.

Has anyone in the USA that has a pre November 2012 dated 335i F30 been successful in having the MPPK installed on their car? If so how much did it cost and how much more labor is necessary to have it installed with a new DME? I am also concerned that installation with subsequent DME programming might be a cause of potential screw ups and problems down the line with my car?

Thanks and appreciated for anyone having had the MPPK installed on their pre November 2012 build 335i F30.

So, looks like everything is on backorder!

I had my local dealership order my setup in mid June and we expected to have the new DMI in 7-10 days. That went to 2+ weeks and got a call yesterday that everything is backordered across the US. Apparently more will be available Aug 1st. So, I'm just waiting for my upgrade a bit longer as it looks.

My car is a Sept build. I got my PPK installed in April 13, I bought the car in Dec.

I bought the PPK from getbmwparts.com and had it installed by a local BMW dealer. The installation process for pre Nov'12 builds requires a new DME that comes directly from BMW Germany coded to your VIN. I think I am the only one who got the car back after one overnight stay at the dealership, otherwise most people here got it back much later, with others taking weeks to get it back. The process involves having BMW Germany coding the car remotely.

I hope this answers all your questions

Thanks "300hp." That really helps! Appreciated.

Our local dealer was not much help to say the least. I called the dealer where we bought our car who was most helpful and also experienced in doing MPPKs for both the E90 series and F30, so I am going to go with them even though they are farther away from where I live.

You are right. BMW USA website only lets one pick 11-2012 as the earliest build date for the F30 sedan. It appears that their website is not accurate as there is indeed a pre-November MPPK for the F30 sedan.

This thread is about the factory M-Performance Power Kit, which is the only tune currently covered by the BMW Warranty. Dinan hasn't produced anything yet for this model, and that would be covered by their parallel warranty, not the BMW factory warranty.

M135i N55

to jump up from 235kw and 450nm would be nice, with the A45 AMG being 275 I think a remap is in order to get us down to around 4.1sec to the 100km/hr!

The BMW MPPK actually outperforms the JB. Area under the curve is greater throughout the revband. Temp. may have played a factor.

I was wrong, temp. does not play a factor, the program has a correction factor for temperature. It flat out outperformed the JB.

Did you dyno stock as well? Just interested as I'm always hearing how BMW is so conservative with their numbers... So if the MPPK or Dinan claims an "X" increase to 3XX HP, is that really true, since the 300 number to start with might have been underestimated?
