Brake pads with less dust
Is it just me or are the OE pads especially bad about brake dust? I can wash my car and notice a layer of brake dust within 2-3 days.
What are some brake pad options that people have used that don't seem to instantly get ground into a fine powder? (while, of course, offering braking performance as good or better than factory) |

I've use Hawk and Mintex in the past and have been very happy. I'll be shopping for some Hawks as my next step, these stock pads are driving me nuts keeping the wheels clean.

I previously had Akebono pads on my E92 and liked them. Went to get them for my F32 but they no sell the front pads. Got CoolCarbon pads and they suck putty balls Went with Porterfield R4-S pads all way round when I did my MPerformance brake upgrade and couldn't be happier

Can the Akebonos be used for LCI 340i's? I keep putting my vehicle type on ECS tuning for brake pads and it keeps saying its not compatible. Looking to swap out my OE brake pads too.

Thank you for the feedback. I recently installed some Cool Carbon pads front and rear and am starting to experience the noise issue. It only happens when they are warm and at slow speeds such coming to a stop. They perform well even when pushed (though I haven't tried them on a big track yet) but bummed about the noise they make. Dust doesn't seem any worse than OEM but they are still new so maybe this gets worse over time.

I switched from OEM pads to Akebono on my E92 and the difference in terms of dust was night and day. Akebono has great stopping power and virtually no visible dust. I was very happy with their product.
Note: I used them on conjunction with new Zimmerman rotors. Great combo |
