Went on the track with these and they fucking grip like crazy.

Smooth, no problems in the rain, I've probably put 10k miles so far and I'm at around 6/32 rears 8/32 fronts.
Yeah at the price I can't see a reason not to get them. The OEM 19 inch sizes are dirt cheap

Can you give a bit more detail on your experience with these at the track? I'm looking for some dedicated track tires (I run Michelin PS4S daily) and I can't find R-Comps in my size (225/40 R19 front, 245/35 R19 rear).

Found a nail in my LR near to the sidewall with a small leak of 2-4psi per day, so ordered them yesterday.

Looking forward to the ride improvement of non-RFTs. Also picked up the Continental ContiComfortKit for any possible future repairs.

I've been thinking about a set of these tires also... Someone mentioned that they don't have much of a rim protector protrusion to them. Is this the case? Thx

Doesn't look like much of one here:

Nope, some photos look like not much at all and some look like it has one. I just checked and you can get a set of PSS (not 4s) version for net on net around $150 more for a set installed. Might go that route but intrigued by these Firestone's. They sound like great value.

Great tires, especially for the price. Wet and dry handling is on par with MPSS in my opinion and I believe the Indy 500s have better bite from a dig, they hook like crazy!

I really love these tires, but I have them on my 1974 Camaro! Good, sticky rubber, low road noise, and great quality.

I just got them installed this past weekend. Less than $500 shipped, can't beat that. Too early to say anything though, but they are bang for the buck if they last a year.

Has anyone compared the performance of the Firehawk Indy 500 against the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R for track/autocross use? Is it even a fair comparison? At almost $400 less for a set (depending on size) vs the RE-71R, they are very tempting

Looking at the APEX group buy that's currently up and adding these to the mix looks to be a great deal for a track set this year

BridgeStone supports the BMW CCA events. That is why I stick with them. 340>200 treadwear would imply they are in a bit different classes on the face at least.

This setup ran me just over 2,400 bux (including TPMS).

I've been running the Firestone Indy's for the past 2k miles, they are a fantastic street tire. It amazes me that they are so cheap.

I'm on stock style 350m wheels.

18x8 w/ 225/45r18
18x9 w/ 255/40r18

Have had the tires on for a while and still very grippy.

Thank you all for this tip! I've been wanting to covert to non run-flats and this thread and tire price finally convinced me to do it. I wanted the Pss4 but I don't think I would fully take advantage of them since I don't track the car or drive very spirited. I just wanted a little better grip (340, Dinan stg 1 and dinan exhaust ). Question; now that I don't RFts what is a good tire inflation/repair kit? Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, the Firehawk's are just re-branded Bridgestone's. They are the parent company and for whatever reason decided to try to inject the Firestone brand with a good performance tire instead.

+1 on the 500's. Amazingly grippy for the money and they don't get sketchy in the wet, something common with cheap summer tires.

I just got back from having 4 Firehawk Indy 500 tires installed. I came from the standard Potenza s0001 rft Tire. I really wanted to get the pilot Super Sport but because of the fact that I had to buy a space-saver tire and jack kit which cost me about $500 I decided that I would make up for that by going with these.

So as far as looks goes they look amazing, the ride is quiet soft and very smooth and I no longer feel all of these little potholes and rocks everywhere. However I do feel as though some of the responsiveness of the car has been blunted. Before when I used to turn the wheel even if it was just a little bit the car would immediately respond and it would almost launch me into the direction I was turning the wheel into whereas now the car nearly is nudged in that direction. I don't know if I'm explaining myself properly I'm not really a car person I just know that the car feels a little bit mushier than it did before that could be a good thing. I can tell that these tires grip a lot better than my old ones but I kind of wonder if having that lack of response is a good thing or not. It's like I have to turn the wheel more to do the same thing as I used to be able to do before with a minor nudge of the wheel.

Firestone is wholly owned by and integrated into Japanese parent company Bridgestone.
