OFHG and OCG Replacement

This is what my mechanic is saying that it's 5.1 hours? Is that correct or should it be less?

Oil filter housing seal(s) is a labor-intensive one at 5.1 hours $182 an hour. We may even need intake manifold seals since the chances of that coming off is very high.

Do people need to remove the intake manifold to do the job? Seems I should take it to another shop where my mechanic charges 105 per hour but just isn't as prestigious of a shop. What's the consensus on the job? Thanks.

182 is expensive

100 to 140 is average

Do it yourself, very easy to do and save a ton of money.

Yes in order to access a bolt behind the oil filter housing.

how about the two rubber o rings I keep hearing about on some oil tubes? Should those be replaced also? Thanks.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd order the o-rings and the bolts for the oil filter housing. That way if I drop that shit into the engine bay I don't have to waste time trying to get it if it's hard to get to. I'm lazy like that.

Although removing the intake is the official procedure it doesn't have to be done. It just has to be loosened enough so a socket can squeeze by and reach a bolt on the OFH. I doubt seasoned technicians pull the intake because they're looking to reduce book time in order to move onto the next job.

Labor seem high but that's a local thing.

so intake manifold gaskets can be left alone?

In my case, when I did my OFHGs and the 2 oil cooler O-rings, I did need to loosen the Manifold and back it off the studs a bit in order to get access to one nut. Maybe someone with a better selection of socket adapter could do it without doing that- I couldn't. Since it was off anyway, I replaced those seals. AND 5 hrs is BS. Took me about 2 hrs and it was the first time. Check out a couple of DIYs. Not hard at all. Just a little patience.
