How to retrofit airbag deactivation switch?

To my surprise, my F31 doesn't have the ability to disable passenger airbag. Apparantly this is an option (5DA)

So I installed the switch. Cable was already there. Added 5DA to FA and code ACSM and all faults cleared except 930AB2 "Indicator lamp for front passenger airbag deactivation: Short-circuit to earth/open" and the lamp never comes on.

Also coded FZD. I have the indicator lamp (two SMD LEDs). I took out the FZD to see all plugs are connected. Could it be that some wires are missing to the FZD?

Any suggestions are most welcome.

Hello, as you i have f30 without airbag passenger deactivation switch.
I want to add it in order to be able to put a baby seat.
Have you successfully retrofit this feature ?
Thank you.

As described in the first post, the cable for the airbag deactivation switch is in place, but an additional wire from the roof airbag indicator led to the crash safety module is needed.

Here's the link to the diagram that I used to do the retrofit: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ation/Fpc2VWFI

Hi all, I am in the oposit situation and want to remove teh 5DA option from the car. COuld remove it with esys but I have a warning airbag and with esys, it says that the airbag light indicator coding doesn t match. That make sense since I have removed the 5DA but what else should I remove to code out the light?

Thanks

Let me ask you a question.
My BMW F31 also did not have a passenger airbag off switch, so I installed it.
I did some coding (ACSM) on the passenger seat airbag off and I think it is working, but the airbag off LED on the interior light still did not light up.
I checked the wiring diagram, connected the safety module (A11) and the interior light (A21), and the LED turned on, but an error occurred in the instrument panel.
I think coding will eliminate the error, but do you know where to code? (FZD?)
Thank you.

Newtis no longer exists thanks to bmw. And there is no alternate source. Sorry but you’ll have to find the info in a different way.

Hello,

I know I am opening an old thread, but for me it's relevant.

Is it possible to retrofit the S5DAA option on a 2016 F31? Facelift version like the above description?

I heard from my mechanic it's not possible due to changes in airbag and no pre-existing wire connection.

BMW in the Netherlands said it was only possible for the previous model (pre-Facelift?? or e90?)) and with the LCI there are two options only:
- Deactivate the passenger airbag permanently and change the seatbelt. With signing a liability document and with a re-enabling call after 9 months. Costs would be 100-200 EUR, but then practically using the passenger seat is at risk of the user.
- Replace both the driver and passenger airbag incl cabling, coding and switch. Costs would be 2500 EUR ... not funny.

Edit: we found out that the light bulb for passenger airbag off notification is present in the roof unit.
