Hi,

I would like to swap my base steering wheel with a sport steering wheel on my 2013 BMW 328i. I read posts that the air bag on the base and sport steering wheel are different so i have to purchase the complete steering wheel with the airbags to make the switch. Is this true?

any one who recently switched from sport to M-sport steering wheel selling their old sport steering wheel with airbags? Mine is a US vehicle.

At this point, wouldn't you just want the M-sport wheel then? It would be the same amount of effort unless of course you prefer the standard sport wheel.

M-sport steering wheel costs higher. I don't have that budget right now. I didn't like the handle on the base wheels and i drove one of my friends car with sport package and liked the steering wheel in there. Should have bought the car with sport package at the first place, my mistake and can't change the car now.

yes u will need a m-sport air bag. they usually cost upwards of 500 USD.. pricey retrofit.. also make sure you buy a DUAL STAGE airbag... not single stage as single stage is for UK AND OVERSEAS... usa requires dual stage.....

I'm not sure if the base is the same size as the sport wheel as we don't get the base out here. However, if they are the same you can use the F20 M wheel as it is a direct swap using the same airbag.

I did it in my F30 a few years ago as have a few others.
