Having major issue with DSC lines interfering with steel brace.

It appears they are out further and a little higher than M4 comparing side by side.

Car in shop now at standstill. Even looked at rerouting pipes around brace but they are to close to steel brace where eventually it will cut them.

Did you have any issue with your DSC and the fitting?

Can you give me any closeup shots of how yours AH3 looks under the steel brace?

At a major roadblock here.

2013 AH3 (Lancelot is 2014 iirc)

No Active Cruise Control which is a different DSC

You can clearly see issue. Front goes to Drivers/Left Front and Rear goes to Passenger/Right Rear.

EDIT: M3 shows these going to wheels. Tracing them they go to Master Cylinder in my F30 AH3.

Suggestions?

Clearly this is an issue.

Putting this here for others.

I have no solution at the moment.

After tracing brake pipes in my 2013 AH3 and a M4 beside it, the pipes and DSC are totally different.

Upon examining Realoem, it appears BMW redisgned the Master Cylinder/ DSC and connecting pioes on 5/1/2013. Clearly this was done so the about to be introduced F8x and F3x/F2x could share the same part and the steel brace would work on the F8x.

Of course with my luck, my car was produced in late March, less than 45 days prior to that.

If your car was produced prior to 5/1/2013, you will run into the same issue I have run into above.

Even if I were to order the new 2 pipes that go from the DSC to the Master Cylinder, they now connect on the side, not the top. As thus the bend would not be correct. (See below).

Right now I am thinking the only option is to produce custom brake pioes. Replacing the DSC/Master Cylinder AND ALL THE PIPES would be a massive expense in parts and labor. Running to the rear is a time consuming mess.

Hi, I think your analysis is correct :-(

My brake lines don't look the same, they're laid out similarly to Steve_Jr's ;

The steel brace is in contact with the one going to the rear, but we just had to gently push down by bolting the brace in place and that was it, there was enough flexibility to accommodate.

Just a thought we had when considering this problem, perhaps these could just be heated up to adjust their shapes where needed, if you have someone with the tools and the knowledge to do that in a safe way you would not need to rebuild them entirely.

Lancelot as you and Steve have 2014, you got lucky. I missed the newer part by around 40 days.

I don't think I can heat and bend as I believe both will need more length to go up off the DSC and then slope forward to go under the steel brace in the front, as your does, before routing back to the proper area. Just not enough area and length to get it done, especially on rear DSC connector.

The rigged pipe is connected to flexible hose prior to entering the Master Cylinder. Wonder the downside of doing those 2 hose out of flexible?

Otherwise, will need the 2 rigged pipes custom made.

Luckily there is a respected local company that has built custom brake lines and other parts for some friends and comes highly recommended. Supposedly they can put it together while you wait.

I thought I had asked all the questions and had this bulletproof.

And on another question roxxor this might answer the difference in the the 2 DSC parts you were trying to figure out in another thread months ago. 1 DSC with Active Cruise for pre 5/1/2013 cars and another for post 5/1/2013 cars with Active Cruise. The DSC configuration looks the same but totally different connections.

That sounds like an interesting option, keep us posted on these developments if you choose to go down that route.

You've certainly been thorough in your investigations, but it's easy to miss some things as there are many factors involved.

Shockingly (considering everything else that went wrong) this part went on with no issue in 2 minutes.

All the techs were all over it and felt it was far superior to the steel M3/M4 plate that we compared it to.

Learned more about brake lines than I ever wanted to know. Very few can make custom lines. Government regulated and a unique number of whoever constructed cable is imprinted on adapter when crimping.

Here in Florida only 1 in Tampa and 1 in St Petersburg is able to do it.

Top 3 pics OEM Pipes

They did not have plugs to work with BMW DCS and Master Cylinder so had to reuse OEM.

If I wanted to take stiff wire or coat hanger and bend to angles, they could make rigid pipe to fit.

Decided it wasn't worth the effort. Just had compression fittings placed on the OEM Piping.

Top 2 to DCS and Bottom 2 to Master Cylnder.

Put in flexible in between.

Have an idea to clean up top of DSC cosmetically down the road if I decide this bothers me.

Made a change.

Wasn't comfortable with the most forward feed to the Master Cylinder on the pre 5/2013 DCS was to the retrofit Strut Brace so had a 180 constructed to put in the most forward position.

Spray painted black and going from there.

Will keep an eye out for 2 Brake Pipes off a crashed/Totaled 2014+ F3x or F8x. Only need first 12 inches. Will modify those to fit and crimp to nylon/mesh connection.

I wouldn't bother too much with an intake, you have the brace fitting issue on top of common issues with aftermarket intakes (CELs).

Just throw a nice high quality air filter in the OEM box.

When I look closely, it appears the CFBR is forward of the OEM intake and room for the attachment in front...and some room on the Drivers Side where the filter would go. Then again, that attachment point on CFBR that isn't attached anyway might have to go...

excellent thread, thanks for detailing all the part numbers and pictures.

I'm still questioning the two black rods that connect to the top part of the car. Someone said their was a bracket you need too ? I have an F22 (m235) anyone here have experience with this car? Also I have groundcontrol camber plates for the M235, so im going to swap them over to the M3/M4 style, as i need the camber plates for the track. Just trying to make this more m235IR style.
