ZF 8AT Trans Fluid Change - Cost & Results

Hi all, i was wondering what people were quoted for a tranny fluid change on the ZF 8AT. My car has just ticked over 80K, so i think its due.

I've been quoted by a local indie using all genuine ZF parts: £298+VAT = £357

That doesn't sound too bad to me as the parts alone are over half that on Ebay! What kind of prices are others getting for this?

Does it make much difference? I'm mainly doing it for preventative maintenance, but i'm kind hoping it smooths out my very low RPM starts that occur in first and reverse.

Cheers

That's roughly the price I paid. Parts alone are about £220. I used an auto tranny specialist.

193 squid for genuine zf fluid and sump/filter from ws-autoteile, 100+vat (120) labour from a transmission specialist.

Have heard others get the labour cheaper.

(Oh mine was the zf8hp45 not sure how much the fluid/parts will differ)

Sounds about right. I had mine changed at 100k miles and it was not looking good.

ZF recommend you change at 60k miles.

For €600 you can have ZF in Germany carry out a proper clean and refresh. It's a shame no one in the UK offers the same level of service. I lie... one place comes to mind but £1000 and will take around a week.
