How many miles a year do do?

A couple of other threads got me thinking.

I do 95% plus of the driving in our household, both cars are around 6 months old and both have done around 2500 miles, I only ever do 8 - 10k a year no matter what really.

I’m guessing some rack up big miles on here!

I do about 18,000 in my car.

Then between 150-250 miles a shift in Astras or the Vivaro. Call it 200 a shift, minus annual leave etc and it's approximately 30,000 work miles a year.

So roughly 48-50,000 miles a year.

Nowadays not much. The BMW is averaging just under 8000 a year, the Audi that preceded it did 22k in 2 years all bar 2 weeks. The Mini has done less than 2500 in 9 months or so.

In 2012 I did 40k miles in the calendar year. Between 2009 and 2012 I did 128k in 3 years and 6 months.

Best car I have ever had and least driving I have ever done. Seems to be the case. Next door neighbour had a Boxster for 5k a year when I was driving a crap Volvo as I was doing 35k a year....

15k a year, roughly. It's increased a bit since I moved sites 2 years ago.

Got the car in December 2013 with just under 3k on the clock, now on 81k

My 440i has done 12.5k ish since December 2017.
My Nissan Xtrail has done 3.5k since July 2019.

We (used to) drive quite a lot but I guess it was never that far lol. We both work three miles away from home, everything we need is within that radius also, so it's only road trips out that add up the miles.

We both work within 5 miles of home.

I do 5000 miles a year, (in the bummer,) that includes 4 trips to Kernow to see family.

The other car is a 1.3cdti corsa that sips fuel and does 6-7000 a year as this is also used for the gym, shopping and all the running around. It’s much cheapness too!

Spent nine years doing 20-25k a year up to 2015. Then a house move and less travel brought it down to 5-6k at the lowest. Was expecting to do 25k a year minimum in my new job (started last September), but haven't got there yet and more wfh in the future could bring that down.

Wife's car has done 16k since brand new in September 2013 and less than 8k in the last four years.

I think about 1000 a year these days. The BM still gets loads of miles put on it as a Mummy-mobile but I now don't ever drive to my London office - whereas I used to due to my hatred of the trains, and client meetings have levelled off a lot as so much is now done via email and conf calls.

When it comes to the weekend and I have to drive to the shops or something I really enjoy it!

Consequently this will be my last 'pricey monthlies' car - it's due to be canned next September and I can't wait to get into real car ownership - I.E second hand at 30k miles as it won't matter.

8 to 10k in the 335d.
8 to 10k in the camper van.
only had the camper for 2 years and it's halved the BM miles, l will be keeping it forever.
So once the M340i tourings are 3 years old I'll swap to one of those me thinks. lts not the right engine for 10 k a year shorter trips - the motorway miles are in the camper.

I've done about 800k in my car driving life time, 40k in 3 years in the 430i and now 5k in 7 months in the XE and since I've done 35 miles in the last four weeks in it, it looks like it's going to go a lot lower. Wife's car has done 26k in 5½ years and that will go down as well.

Do any of you long time very low mileage owners get any problems with batteries expiring?

Hmm lifetime mileage let me see. Just averaging, 22 years of work, 20,000 a year.

440,000 miles give or take.

Don't think I'll make 1 million lifetime. I see everyone working more remotely in the future and we'll retirement is hopefully less than 22 years anyway.

No battery problems on the Toyota over those very low miles. Approaching 7 years old now. However, between xmas and late March it had only covered 120 miles and it felt like it fired less urgently - same number of motor turns but felt slower. Got a charger and it showed as sub 25%, was restored to 100% in hours and felt back to normal when I moved it out of the garage today.

I think I am at about 900k miles in 34 years - so might just make a million (and with the look of the economy for next few years it may be in the cars I have now....)

Should just about do it by retirement in 10 years!

Over the last 3 years our household fleet of cars has averaged a bit over 54k miles per annum, 58k in the last tax year, and never below 40k miles in the last 10 years.

My wife has maybe done around 15-20k of those each year.

I'm amazed that we both have clean licenses, that neither of us have been in an accident in that time, and actually, have seen remarkably few either.

At a guess I am probably not far off half a million miles driven in my life so far.

The battery died on the wife’s Nissan a couple of years back at 2500 miles and just over 12 months old, needed a new one.
