charge pipe to intercooler seal

The O-ring/seal that is in the charge pipe where it connects to the intercooler has a spit in it. So, it appears that it is designed to go a specific way, should the split face the intercooler or up towards the throttle body or does it matter?

This is the proper orientation of the O-ring that seals the charge pipe to the inter cooler.
