Game. Set. Match. and the season hasn't even yet begun. Merc is just on another level with the current formula. Let's see what 2021 brings.

Unpopular opinion: I can't watch sports on TV. I don't have time to sit and watch sports AT ALL. Like ANY sports. I love sports though, I played Football and Baseball all though grade school and high school but I just don't watch nor keep up with the NFL or MLB. I don't get it, who has that time?! When my football fan friends talk football I can't keep up and I say little. They probably think I don't know shit about the sport, but I do find it interesting that they have never suited up and set foot behind the line and bled on the field for their team in their life. I have many times. Ironic.

With F1, I do try and watch the race highlights on their youtube channel during the season but I can't sit and watch entire races. This show condenses everything into something entertaining and digestible, it's so good. I really wish NFL and the NBA did something like this, although it would be much more difficult to impossible with so many teams.

Yeah I know. I really love watching my son play sports though. And I like going to games and watching live. I just can't watch it on TV. Since I don't watch it on TV, it's hard to keep up or get invested since I can only go to so many live sporting events.

It's like any other top-level sport - the people who've made it to that level are hyper-competitive and fantastically talented, and most have no need for false modesty. They're probably pretty cool if you run into them in the off-season at a golf course. But when they pull those Nomex gloves on, look the fuck out.

+1. When you're away from your "thing"....be normal. But when you are in your element and are great at it....I see nothing wrong with being cocky.

Because most of the time you've busted your ass to get there!

This.
I've met my share of F1 drivers and they are pretty nice off the track for the most part. The coolest I've met is David Coulthard. Talk about a party animal and regular guy. Nico Rosberg isn't as fun. I'll just leave it there. Oh...Norbert Haug...he will grab the mike, hit the turntable and drive the party to a new level.

My best memories were meeting Niki Lauda and secondarily Ross Brawn.

Who has the time lol? How is your life so incredibly busy and complex that you can take a few hours once in a while to watch your favorite sporting event? How did you have time to even make this post???

In the US, the vast majority of F1 races are taking place early Sunday morning so not exactly a typical busy point for anyone.

It's not cocky if you did it last Sunday and are about to do it again.

I hung out and hiked with Finnish rally legend Markku Alen, in northern Finland several summers ago. Possibly the friendliest, jolliest fellow who ever drew breath, which is just what you'd expect of a Finn. We were both guests at a really remote cabin that belonged to my then-client. A couple of the other car-nut guests and I were scheming to get him behind the wheel of a hot modded Focus that belonged to one of them, for a bit of back road tomfoolery, but by the time we posed the idea to Markku we'd all been up too late and had too much sauna and beer and makkara. One of the "near misses" of my life.

I get it and I know my comments were over the top. I too work a lot and have a family I love spending time with. When it comes to watching my favorite team I try to involve them in the experience, perhaps by going to a restaurant where the game is on or having another family come over so the kids can play and the dads can have the game on
