My b58 MPPSK dyno numbers

Went to the dyno today to lay down some numbers. Dyno was a dynojet and my car is a stock b58 with the mppsk tune running through the 8 speed auto. Car was running on California’s finest 91 octane “premium” but anyway. My best numbers were 331 rwhp and 380 rwtq. The horsepower number was right about where I thought it’d be but my torque number was a surprise. The midrange on these engines is que fuerte! Dyno graph attached. Now the question.....do I mod?

well you asked the question so....with the numbers a Mission Performance tune is producing I would suggest a simple engine and trans flash to push you deep into the 400++ range

I’m super tempted by the Mission tunes but I am worried about blowing my warranty. I only have 6000 miles on this car and I’d hate to give up that protection. I debate this every day honestly. Mission does good work clearly.

totally "get" and "appreciate" that...however in that you are asking you will only be able to fight the urge for so long so might as well give in now so you have more time to enjoy it.....don't waste a day.....hahahaha

ps-great numbers

Nice cobra, hit me up one of these days and I'll let you drive my X3 I've got the stage 2 (no trans tune yet) and it's a beast. Just put on my catted DP on the other week but the MP tune really just wakes this thing up.

I don't know if you're leasing or financing but I've got 2.5 years left on the lease and I'm really nonchalant about modding while leasing in regards to warranty but that's just me lol

I'm in the same boat as you. My '18 340i is tucked away for the winter with only 1600 miles on the clock. I'd love to add some more power in the spring, but to me, it's definaltey not worth voiding the warranty with one of Mission Performance's excellent flash tunes. I'm going to wait until post warranty to do this. In the meantime, if I get desparate for more power I may pull the trigger on Dinan's Elite V2 computer model. I believe adding this this does not affect the factory warranty (I'll confirm prior to buying). The V2 is said to be worth 35 rwhp. Just my $.02...

It can void your warranty, but Dinan has their own warranty that will cover the repair if the dealer can prove the tune caused it to fail.

I picked up exactly 40 awhp and 35 ft/lbs with the Dinan tune.

It will void your warranty for the engine/transmission and the dealer will argue that the tune is the cause. They don't have to prove that it was the tune you have to proof it wasn't the tune .... enter the Dinan warranty who would step in in cases like this.

Not what you said as the dealer WILL void the warranty (or better the BMW Tech spec they call in) unless YOU can prove the tune didn't cause the failure (which will be hard to do)

Thanks for posting! I'm currently in the great moral dilemma of whether or not to get an MP or Dinan tune for my F32 440i with MPPSK.

I've never had much of an incentive to tune with other cars, but the B58 is an absolute unit & I really want to see what it can actually do

Hmmm...Are these numbers SAE or STD? Smoothing is on 5 but the graph looks quite spikey.

i've had tons of engine and transmission work and replacements on my b58 under warranty, not willing to risk losing it...

Did you have to go into a "dyno mode" on the car? And what gear did you dyno in?

I'm not sure if the operators put it in a dyno mode or not. It was at a dyno day with a bunch of other BMWs and the operators seemed like they knew what they were doing. I believe it was dynoed in 4th gear. 6th is 1:1 but it'll hit the speed governor before redline so they had to do it in a lower gear.
