5 series is awesome. If you truly need the practicality then the g31 is obviously better. But the saloon boot is massive - deep. We've not yet had issues in our costco shopping. But you lose the height aspect with the closed boot.

Split seats are an option so if you go for one make sure it has them.

Someone mentioned that the 5 doesn't handle as well as the 3. That's tosh imo. I have the adaptive drive option on my 530d and it handles better than the f31 I had with the adaptive suspension. Perhaps the new gXX 3 series models will be leagues ahead of the f3x ones and maybe handle better than the g3x but the ride quality and handling in the new 5 is fantastic.

I'd love the G series but just too much for me. I was looking around autotrader last night and stumbled upon the A7 black edition, it's not like me to look at Audi (had bad experience with them) but that car looks great, is massively practical and seems much more up to date in terms of spec and tech compared to my F30 anyway. Goddam....

Maybe a 6 series GC is required, just squeeze everything through the narrower boot but f*ck it cause it's a nice motor!

0% on 5 series at the moment so a dealer email shot tells me. If so with the big discounts you can get might be a good time.

No way!?! 5 series is a year old and they still need to move a load of 3s and x6s before the new models are produced. Why would they drop 5s to zero percent.

Way! I'm in this market so am currently clued up

They are stock cars and it's a decent number of dealer groups pushing this promotion

Interesting times

What are the plans for the 6 series anyone know? I’m a bit confused as to when the new one is coming out.

I love the new interiors, like in the new 5 series but they are still at around £28k plus for a 6 pot version (although good value I can only afford around £20-22k max). So do I wait for the price to go down, another year or two or go for a 640d now as it’s got the best interior sub £23k? Can’t decide.

Obviously it’s not just about interiors but it’s between the 5 and 6 series for me now I reckon.

The story I get on my regular visits to Germany is that there will be no replacements for the current 6 Coupe/Conv/GC lineup. That's the new 8 series.
Instead the 6 series will be a platform for 5 series based electric vehicles. Much as the GT was moved from 5 to 6. Purely talk at the moment, nothing to pin it down.

Interesting, so the LCI version may stay/feel relatively up to date then?

My understanding is that the 6 Series Convertible, Gran Coupe and GT are current. 8 Series Coupe with be joined by the convertible and the 6 will continue as 4/5 doors.

But you started wanting something more practical and a 6 series coupe or GC wont be....

I'd wait for a G30 estate or GT...

Could be, but it might be electric, all speculation at the moment.

I personally really don't like estate cars, but they visually appear as something built out of practically. However the 3 series touring actually looks gorgeous on its own merits, better than a 3 series in my opinon, which seems redundant since the 4 series and 4 gran coupe.

On top of it looking gorgeous it's obvious extremely practical.

Not having one household member owning a hatchback, you're extremely restricted in what you vav get. No more picking up a second hand fridge being given away from someone round the corner, as they won't fit in a 'sedan', but do in even the smallest hatchback cars. You only really notice how much of an asset it is when it's gone.

The 6GT gives you 5 doors without the 'estate car' looks and it's relatively sensible money and way better looking than the 5GT it replaced.

The 5 touring is a far better looking car than the 6 GT. I think all the bmw tourings look great, the GTs look awful and are less practical.

Gotta say I personally prefer even the much older second hand 5T to the new 6gt, which tries to hard to make an estate graceful and so actually making it worse. I much prefer the rigid industrial look of 5 box, although the 6gt will have more exclusivity, and more looks due to being much less common

yeh I'm not a fan of how the 6Gt looks tbf, do prefer the 5T and 3T looks. I guess I want a bit more out of my car in terms of interior, build quality etc which is why I'm edging towards the 5. Yes I'm leaping from one to another but I guess that happens when you are considering what to get. I think I may wait until the G30 comes in to my price range (as I buy cars out right), just a pity they haven't introduced the 540d (yet maybe) but I like the G30 so much I would probably be happy with the 530d anyway.

And to add further fuel, I'm enjoying the 335d right now anyway haha
