Definitely I’m always up for that! The orange beast hasn’t been around much. I will be floating around town a lot next week.

Just a warning guys.. after replugging my flap back in on my 35 MPE I found the flap didn’t work anymore. Apparently after 24hrs of it being unplugged the ecu disables it.

It took three visits to different dealers, eventually one of the three resolved it after having my car in for an entire week. It consisted of reflashing the entire car plus “more resets”.. I’m not too sure what the more part was but the dealer said it had proven sturborn and had reverted to advice from the guys in Germany.

Instead of unplugging it now; I just have a WiFi adapter plugged into the obd port and connect to bimmerlink on my phone and open the flap

Just curious - why did you plug it back in?

Good info to know. I don't think this would put me off disabling it though as I want more noise lol

I've just ordered one from my dealer - they are in UK stock and they said they'll have it in 2 days.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but does someone know the diameter of a 335D exhaust and also that of a 340i ? I know the 340i is slightly bigger but the exact diameter of both would be useful please.

Car booked in next Thursday for the dual exhuast conversion. OEM 340i rear diffuser arrived from Cotswold BMW on Wednesday for £63 delivered - great value & service.

I got one of these today. Before I squeeze under the car, I'm assuming it doesn't matter whether you have mppsk or stock exhaust? Mines just unplugged at the moment.

I fitted it to my MPPSK over the weekend

Cold start in the garage is almost deafening. Haha.

I have the 2018 440i GC as well, how did you perform the mod? I noticed my car always starts with the exhaust flap open on a cold start. Do you just shut the engine off immediately and install the plug? Or do you start the car and run to the back and unplug it while the car is running?

I had to order my dummy plug from the dealership and it's coming from Germany so I'm two weeks out from doing this.

Thanks

Mine definitely didn't start with the flaps open as its so much louder now haha.

The flaps stay open when you turn the car off, so easiest way would be to start the car, put it into sport, then after 30 seconds or so, press the accelerator slightly and you will hear the flaps open. Turn the car off, then fit the plug before restarting

Interesting, maybe it's a regional thing?

Edit - Figured it out. I had changed my Sport Mode settings while ago and forgot that it was set to Chassis Only. I changed it back to Drivetrain + Chassis and now the flap opens correctly.

Exhaust flap mod

Hi, thanks for the simple and very useful guide to this issue.

I have a question. Did you do anything to cover up the connector at the flap actuator to avoid dirt coming into the plug when the servo cable is disconnected?

I used one of these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Wirin...item282cc7704f

Fill the holes in the back of the connector with a bit of silicone to stop any water going in the holes.

Just a tip, you could just remove the actuator, safety wire the valve open and put the actuator back in place. No need for a dummy circuit.
