Paint on wheels cracking???
Bmw sportline wheels. Looks as if the clear coat is cracking. Has anyone ever seen this? Is this covered under warranty?

Agree, looks like curb rash painted over. Doesn't look like cracking paint IMO.

Don't these wheels have a machined faces from factory? A shoddy repaint would explain it.
Edit: if it's sportline then these definitely have machined faces from the factory as far as I've seen.

If it is over 50,000 miles or the wheel that has been repaired, you have no claim under warranty. But I would certainly make a stink that it wasn’t disclosed with the CPO. Of course, they could claim you had damaged repaired. |

Sorry, but looks like bad wheel repair starting to show aging to me. They also don't look like sportline machined surface wheels to me.

Possible the dealer or previous owner did a poor job of repainting. If that was the case that might account for the cracking.

Much cheaper:
https://www.amazon.com/VHT-SP183-Sat...223452937&th=1 Painting wheels isn't at all difficult if you have any experience with spray painting. Like any painting preparation is 90% of the work. The biggest part of the job is sanding out any scratches, like those in the OPs first picture. Whoever first repainted the wheels didn't do that, giving that bad result. Sanding the inside faces of the spokes is a PITA if they need it, but curb rash seldom gets in there, so it's rare that you'd have to do much sanding of hard to reach spots. |
