trouble getting winter tires. Need some help guys
Hello. My vehicle is 340i, 2017, rwd, msport
I live in NY, NJ area. I'm considering getting either Blizzak WS80 or michellin Xice.(just the tires, not winter wheels) My wheel size : Front 225/45 R18, Rear 255/40 R18 But the problem is, on Tire rack homepage or other online tire shops, they don't have the size for the rear wheel. I couldn't find 255/40 R18 at all. I don't really have a good idea except going to the bmw center and get tires changed there, which I wish not to. I appreciate it in advance brothers |

Get 225/45 all around. I have the ICE XI3 for my car. See this thread below

Are you a Costco member? Try calling Costco tire center to see if they can find something for you. The only issue I have with them is that some techs don't care too much about not scratching the area around the wheel nuts...

What solidjake said, or use this as the perfect opportunity to get a dedicated set of winter wheels (+TPMS). I have staggered 19" 403M's for the summer and square 18" 400M + 224/45R18 (Blizzak WS80) for the winter. If you ever resell a second set you'll recoup most/some of the investment. Also, no more transplanting tires onto wheels twice a year.
Check the classifieds, e.g.: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1554253 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1551868 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1549417 |

If you want the largest selection of winter tires buy a set of 17" wheels and tires especially if you want to stay with runflats. The only choice you get with 225/45/18 is Pirelli. If you go 17" you can choose Michelin, Nokian, Bridgestone, and Dunlap.
I bought a nice set of 17" BMW takeoffs on eBay for both of my cars. The 17" setup works great. 17" size is 225/50/17 which gives much better pothole protection especially needed if you live in NY!

Save yourself the headache and get a dedicated set of wheels for winter. Mount and balance once and easy to swap when seasons change. Plenty of low cost aftermarket options or second hand and they will pay for themselves over 3-4 years. Also you may be able to go down to 17" if you do not have the perf brakes and save some more.

Costco tip #132
If they don't carry the tire but carry the brand, they can order it. #costco |

Just checked Tire Rack .... they offer a 17" Wheel Tire Package for a 2017 M-Sport 340. If you have the "Track Package" they only offer 18"'s. Anyone know for sure?

Have had great luck with *square* WS80's and switching to Dynamic TCS, have yet to get stuck and I live in a very hilly and snowy area. I'm lowered and RWD.
Blizzak is a well known product but there are a lot of cheaper options that will get the job done too. Even a mid-range winter tire will outperform an all-season. Most important metric for snow driving is braking, 10 feet can be the difference between a trip to the hospital and a normal ride home. Be safe out there.
