Plastic nipple from airbox broken

Hey everyone,

After taking my car in on Friday to asses any timing chain, I believe the tech may have broken the plastic bit that comes off the back of my n26 airbox, as there was just a random hose laying in my bay when I check today after cleaning the car

A forum member also had this issue in 2019, but I didn't come across a solution yet and would like some advice if anyone else has had this issue

Basically the nipple is now inside the hose, which I can't imagine it'll be too hard to pull out with pliers, but the plastic bit that connects to the airbox, will the entire airbox now need to be replaced or is it a simple housing that I can swap out?

Here is the forum post from before:

Thanks in advance

Go to Hobby Lobby, get some brass tubing of the required size to insert into the two parts. Clean both with alcohol first, insert the tubing into the airbox end, glue around it with silicone sealant, push the other piece onto it. https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Ho...-16%22/p/24128

It looks like 1/16" would work. If required drill out the plastic to allow it to fit.

More like a cast on a broken leg, but here you'd have the 'cast' inside the broken parts instead of outside. Brass tubing has thin walls, so while the air flow wouldn't be as much as originally it should still suffice. I'd have suggested a piece of ball point pen ink reservoir but it's been a long time since those were made of brass.

I see. I will report back after I get a response from bmw if they will replace it since I think they caused it anyways

I appreciate your help so far, thank you

You need to see what the nipple connection looks like?

Those first two pics are where it connect, the nipple I broken off inside the hose that's what I posted about

Sorry misunderstunding, I'm searching how to hold the cover in this thread: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1815435, hope you can give me an hand.
For your problem i think the best way is use a metallic hollow threaded tube, like usually use in lamps for example.
